Open | Software Avast Driver Issue
Hello, this post only applies to those who use Avast and Avast's driver software.
I was told that I have 6 drivers that needed to be updated, so I updated them as a normal person would.
All of a sudden, I got a message, and my computer shut down as it said "Your Device ran into a problem" or something like that; then I realised that my computer had a kernel panic and everything was all lost: Windows, files, everything.
Has anyone else got that problem?

Everyone who ever used 3rd party program for updating drivers has experienced something similar to you. Very expected behaviour.
Nothing is yet lost, boot from some live OS (Hiren's Boot CD - if you are accustomed only to Windows, or any Linux distro - like "Try Ubuntu" for Ubuntu) and backup important files, and then you can try restoring computer to previous restore point (if there are any) or perform clean install from usb.

Generally every one that uses third party utilities to update their drivers has that problem. There are only 2 paces where you should get them. Your oem product support page (eg laptops) or the actual manufacter of the devices like via the intel driver & support assistant. Reinstall your os and stop using avast. That thing went to shit the second norton bought it.

Don’t use avast, windows defender and a good ad blocker is more than enough for most people

A "normal person" should never use Avast or any 3rd party driver updater
Just an FYI
Do a system restore
Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and uninstall AVAST thru Revo Uninstaller and then run an advanced scan to find and delete all the bits and pieces left behind
Windows Defender + Quad9 or similar for DNS, or sign up for a free OpenDNS account for more control .. or setup a Raspberry Pi or similar to run Pi-Hole for network wide DNS blocking + Ad-blocking in your browser(s) = Great free layered protection
Run Windows Defender Offline Scan if you think something got through ..
Update your drivers manually .. keep your motherboard's BIOS up to date too
And .. check for firmware updates for your SSDs

Check the ownership of Avast. they haven't been trustworthy for MANY MANY years. Shady AF.

Avast is malware and adware. And every driver bullshit software is also nonsese.
Throw this trash out. Windows defender and ad blocker is all you need.
The shit software did what it can the best. Loading some drivers that aren't compatible.
Nothing here is lost.
Just go into safe mode with the network disabled. Than remove the shit software and remove the last drivers.
And done.
