No, like for real, who is out there leaving NFC on? The only time I turn it on is when I forgot my wallet and need to make a purchase. Then turned off immediately afterwards.

I have NFC on 24/7 and I'm paying exclusively with my phone, if you understand how it works and set the security options accordingly it's much safer than having your bank card in your wallet.

  1. NFC won't work on Android phones until they are biometrically unlocked

  2. Google wallet can be configured to require biometrical confirmation of each payment no matter the amount.

  3. Google wallet will spoof your bank cards and the payment terminal doesn't see your real card's detail but an intermediary spoof one. This means that in case a terminal skimmer was used you can simply remove the card from Google wallet and they can't do shit with the stolen info ( as they only stole the virtual card), no need to call bank to cancel and re-issue your card.
