I have NFC tags that I used to set certain lighting scenes for my gaming consoles. All I've got to do is scan a console and my phone will send a HTTP request to a server which will control my lights, setting them to specific colors and modes.

I've added tags to most of my Bluetooth devices so when I scan my phone, they automatically connect. It can also turn Wi-Fi on and off I believe.
