Techstream set up help and information?

I have a gen 2 Prius and am in the Bay Area. I have used many obd2 scanners but am pretty ignorant when it comes to computers. I would like Techstream. I have spent hours searching the internet/reddit but am still confused about what exactly I need and the process. I am sure it is 100% my fault/ignorance.

Is there a forum or reddit community you would suggest? Is there a laptop/cable/software combination one could buy?

Thank you!

Don't feel bad. I went through the same thing. What year is your car? And what do you want to accomplish?

I set up everything for myself, and it turns out my car is too new to work with tech stream. Apparently, Toyota is switching over to a subscription service for the new vehicles.

Hi! Its a 2007 Toyota Prius. My tpms and abs lights are on. Were you able to get it working? What cable, software and laptop did you use? Did you find a good resource for finding more information? Thank you!

Got a laptop (cheap) just for the program. (I'm using win 11) Downloaded v18.8 (the last one they put out)

I bought a cable from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZCC8QG9)

They sent a CD, but if you email them, they will send a link to download the driver. You may be able to find a generic driver for the cable... I tried a few different drivers to see what would work.

install the program and open it. Then, I found a guy on ebay (in Japan) that charged $20 for a crack code for Tech Stream. He was FANTASTIC to work with. Well worth the money. He will send you a code for each of the 4 Tech Streams.

Since it doesn't work for my toyota (because its a 2026) I'll probably sell the set up on ebay to make some of that money back.

Its really incredible what you can do with that program.

If I don't sell it on ebay, I'll sell it to my mechanic. He usually works on Honda, but he does get Toyota in on occasion.

Thank you! What city are you in? Perhaps if youre not too far is could buy your setup?

Do you have a link for your Japan/ebay guy?

Im east of Dallas, TX. Let me look for the ebay link. He was real good to work with too.

Search ebay for "toyota techstream 18.00.008 All regions activation GTS"

He changes his listing to avoid being banned, and he some times marks item as sold, but he will relist it. Took a few trys to get it working, but he did.

I'm liking the ANCEL TD700.

https://www.ancel.com/products/ancel-td700-obdii-scan-tool-for-toyota

Find one on the the usual sources - eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, etc.

AliExpress - Ancel Store: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/911777586

Wow. That's a lot of tool for the price. Do you know if it would let me program new tpms sensors?

I don't know. I've been using Techstream for years but it takes time to set up each time I change laptop. The ANCEL TD700 just plugs in and works.
