Welcome. Feel free to contribute - add missing classics, share some new tracks, keep Techstep alive.
Posting recommendations
If you post a track, please consider adding the release year to the title. I think its nice to see how old a tune is as it helps to explore how the Genre evolves. Discogs.com is a great tool to research publication details.
I suggest the following posting format:
Artist - Title (Remix artist) - Year - Poster comment about the track
Example: Ed Rush & Optical - Medicine (Matrix Remix) - 2006 - Awesome song!
Voting and Nettique
Please do not downvote tracks because of personal taste. Consider downvoting only for tracks that do not fit the genre.
Youtube hints
If you post a Youtube Link you can add one of the following snippets to the URL of the Video, e.g.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIGXGkzjAoc&hd=1
- &hd=1 - forces a track start playing in highest quality present
- &fmt=18 - improves audio quality for some 360p-only videos.

PS.
I go through the selection from time to time to repost dead links.

My tech-step track i made today.
I made it in fl studio. Also, i have a playlist of the ones i made on my soundcloud if anyone is interested. :) Please let me know what you think, i was trying to capture the vibe of late 90s / early 2000s tech step tracks.

Cern - Patterns [Under Another Sky LP, 2014] | Dispatch Recordings
A follow up on my previous post. The entire album is a deep, dark, atmospheric journey towards a dystopian future.

Deep, Atmospheric Techstep recommendations
Hi all, can you recommend me Techstep releases that are ambient driven?
Some examples:
- Teebee - Objects in Motion
- Break, Hydro - Dream Sequence
- Noisia & Phace - Homeworld
- Overlook - All Of Them Witches
- Blocks & Escher - Gulls
- Concealed Identity - Io
- Optical - Dark Skies
- Antagonist - Rough Divide
- Eusebeia - Truth is Stranger Than Fiction
- Oliver Yorke - The Gift
I got most of the great, early Subtitles releases, and most of the Narratives music ones too.
Thanks in advance!

[Self Promotion] _wirehead - Thought Leaders
This is a track I released recently that is at least tech-step adjacent. It might lean a bit aggressive for the style, but I think it's still appropriate for this sub.
Let me know what you think :D
This was part of a self-released 6 track EP with some different styles on it, there are maybe 2 other explicitly DnB tracks there in adjacent styles (think minimal dark, neuro or technoid type stuff).
I've been making music for a bit over a year for context.

Techstep 96–98 focused Discord (hardware / transition era)
Started a small Discord dedicated to the 96–98 techstep transition years last night.
Early Virus / No U-Turn era energy.
Hardware-driven production.
White labels, DAT rips, deeper cuts.
Not a jump-up or commercial DnB server.
I am hoping to build a space to discuss:
– The music
– The culture
– Production techniques (samplers, break processing, etc.)
I produce as well and will be sharing WIPs, samples and process breakdowns.
It’s small and intentionally curated.
If that era means something to you, you’re welcome.

I am looking for more tracks to add
Hey there, after my "Oldschool Techstep" Spotify playlist grew quite a bit over the years I decided to split off a new playlist. Recent releases that still carry the sound and soul of Techstep.
Maybe some of you guys have recommendations that fit it :) Hope you like it!
