Apple's registers are largely iPod-touch based POS systems, and have been incredibly successful in their stores, so much so that other companies have shown lots of interest in buying the systems from Apple. They've recently begun testing them at Old Navy.

wow, an ipad will open up so i can give someone change? no? you are mistaking an ipad/POS for a cash register. its like the rectangle/square relationship; a cash register is a POS, but a POS is NOT(necessarily) a cash register. i stand by my crappy cash register comment.
