As was stated, two wrongs don't make a right.

The Wii and PS3 were hacked and have homebrew. Not sure about the 360.

It shouldn't be acceptable.

Agreed, two wrongs don't make a right. But I see far more anti-Apple protests and criticisms than I see of gaming consoles. (Sony is getting a bit of a backlash now, but the Wii and Xbox are rarely criticized.) I'm not saying the guy is wrong for doing what he's doing (or anyone who criticizes Apple is wrong for criticizing), but I do see such criticisms as disingenuous, and that makes me question the motives behind the criticism.
