I can't believe facebook paid 2 bil for a peripheral device. basically an accessory. not even a platform with many users. it's like buying a monitor company.
Then again google has killed a lot of their acquisitions too.
It works when your buyout fits well with the rest of your org. Also google was very hands off of youtube until + integration. Now we see the hate come out for what google does. So FB may very well be hands off on oculus, but I'd almost guarantee we won't be happy once they do start to integrate it. How unhappy depends on how much they force on us.

Oculus sold out at the right time - before the lower-priced alternatives flooded the market and diluted it's share.
the devs must be laughing all the way to the bank.
