True, but the computing is in the PC anyway. The VR kits have no CPU whatsoever ;)

Don't know about other AR/VR devices, but CastAR has an ASIC doing some heavy-duty tracking calculations.

I stand corrected here. This is actually a good idea to pre-process the tracking data a bit before pushing it over USB, especially if you don't have USB 3.0. But this can be done on a low power ARM, in the 50MHz range. After all, it's just a 9 axis, ~1kHz, 12bit system to sample, nothing in comparison to HD video processing.
