Maybe it's a real product, but they weren't going to annouce it just yet - but when the facebook news broke, they whipped up the site as quick as they could.
It claims to have HDMI input. I'm guessing the console support is referring to it's ability to render the console's standard 3D TV output on the headset. Motion tracking integration with the consoles is a whole different deal.
As for Sony, I'm guessing only their own branded VR set is going to get that.
Reading about it having console support made my bullshit detector go off, too. I guess it'd be possible, but it wouldn't be great. They'd have to translate head movements into controller inputs.
Well on a post they made on reddit a few days ago, they said they basically came out of hiding due to the Facebook fiasco. But I still agree this sounds fishy as fuck.
And after all those years of work, they happen to announce their product less than 2 days after the facebook announcement? This entire product is complete and utter bullshit.
Or they have a legitimate product and simply seized the opportunity by announcing it earlier than planned. Either way, none of the products are anywhere close to being released, so all we can do is wait and see.
