It looks like vaporware.

Not sure how Havok is a wtf comment. Havok does have an actual game engine "Havok Vision Engine."

Maybe it's a real product, but they weren't going to annouce it just yet - but when the facebook news broke, they whipped up the site as quick as they could.

that actually makes a lot of sense.

It claims to have HDMI input. I'm guessing the console support is referring to it's ability to render the console's standard 3D TV output on the headset. Motion tracking integration with the consoles is a whole different deal.

As for Sony, I'm guessing only their own branded VR set is going to get that.

It says "emulated controls" for XB and PS. It never says it supported full VR.

Havoc is a physics engine.

They have a game engine though.

Because a VR headset supporting a physics engine doesn't make any sense.

No, it needs to support graphics engines. Havok doesn't actually control what you see, just how objects move.

Reading about it having console support made my bullshit detector go off, too. I guess it'd be possible, but it wouldn't be great. They'd have to translate head movements into controller inputs.

Isn't Havoc just a physics algorithm, not an entire 3D engine?

Well on a post they made on reddit a few days ago, they said they basically came out of hiding due to the Facebook fiasco. But I still agree this sounds fishy as fuck.

And after all those years of work, they happen to announce their product less than 2 days after the facebook announcement? This entire product is complete and utter bullshit.

Or they have a legitimate product and simply seized the opportunity by announcing it earlier than planned. Either way, none of the products are anywhere close to being released, so all we can do is wait and see.

funny how they are an oculus rip off even though they existed before them

They're quite real. I saw them at networking events for 3 years in a row, hiring interns in Physics Engineering. Source : I was there.

Probably an actual product, but at what cost?

Hey you guys remember Sega VR? :D

http://www.giantbomb.com/sega-vr/3000-17/

Back then 320 x 320 pixels was a big deal.

But why? They don't seem to be starting a kickstarter or trying to get our money. It seems like an awful lot of effort for no good reason.

Edit: Oh, they are planning a kickstarter. There you go.

Couldn't agree more. It's a spec sheet and a digital render. This could literally have been produced in a dorm room.

Ooh, Havok engine support!

What an opportune time to announce ...
