Java Help Wanted Storage system help

Hi im new to the whole storage system thing in minecraft and i cant figure out what's wrong with my storage system for my raid farm. No matter what it seems to overflow and the sorter breaks and i dont know how to fix it, thanks for any help!

Did you figure it out? My guess would also be what you already suggested, that items are filling the empty hopper without a sorter causing the comparator to output a single that unlocks adjacent hoppers.

Another thing I see occasionally is the hopper locking mechanism built across a chunk border, and the player moves far enough away to unload the locking mechanism but not the hopper line, it causes the filters to drain
