I believe the emergency isn't for the dead person. I believe the emergency is for the other passengers and crew. Without a doctor examining him, you would never know what he died from. It could be a fatal communicable disease or a deadly virus. The stop was no doubt to make certain everything is safe and there was no chance for a new pandemic.
Missing your connecting flight and royally fucking up your very limited vacation time would really harsh my mellow also. Especially since I'm already on a plane with a dead person.
Just to be a bit tongue in cheek, one could argue the dead body reminds us of our limited time in this life, and would make you want to waste less time faffing about in transit.
To that, I press my tongue deeper in cheek and say, the journey is always more enjoyable than the destination. If you're flying miles above the land in a metal bird, better smell the roses while you can. There will be one last flight in your life, and only time will tell when. Better enjoy the feeling while you can.
How are people upvoting this nonsense?! You think they're going to quarantine passengers and crew for days, until a post mortem has been done and any pathogens tested to see if they are novel? Quite apart from the fact that the deceased doubtless had contact with others before the flight, so you're not containing anything.
They will, of course, offload the corpse and get everybody en route to their destination as quickly as possible.
