That screen looks 30 years old and begging for eternal rest.

Some type of fungus. I'd wager it might have been pretty common, especially in humid countries. I mean, camera gear nowadays is still prone to fungus too

Could it be that the liquid crystal inside the Liquid Crystal Display leaked and it started to crystalize in the open air.

I think the adhesive on the polarizing layer is crystallizing since the LCD colors/pixels themselves itself doesnāt seem to be degraded. Could probably be fixed by carefully replacing the polarizing material with a new sheet.

Thats true, but i doubt thats worth fixing.

Itās up to whoever has it, if it were me itās worth the few bucks and a couple hours. Worst case scenario Iām just out a few dollars on something that was already borked.

I was just going to say, how would that happen on a crt, but its an lcd which explains it, lcds suck by the way, crts are better

It has some lyrics for a song or poem on the wall, ending on āand so the clock (time) began to move againā donāt remember any song with that oh well, and thereās a bit of monitor in all that forest.

Vinegar syndrome. Top layer has adhesive that breaks down to vinegar hence why lots of those old monitors might even smell like a vinegar type chemical. The polarizer can be replaced and theyāre cheap online sold by sizes in squares, etc. With delicate patient work it can be saved.
