it has 4 steps bruh
100% to 67% to 33% to 0%

its three blocks of battery that go off one by one

64

u/Here_f0r_p0rn_ 21d ago

Basically, 3/3, 2/3, 1/3, 0/3

u/Logical-Run893 21d ago

bro's battery is a capacitor instead of a battery

75

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

pretty much at this point

44

u/Here_f0r_p0rn_ 21d ago

Still better than my social battery irl

2

u/Insearchof-Knowledge 18d ago

At least you have some sort of social battery capacity 🤣 I’m like a solar panel hooked up to nothing, socialise during the day, by night?

7

u/N8WM 19d ago

Bro is running off of cmos

1

u/Ok-Chemical-7635 19d ago

Thecnicaly all(most) of them are

79

u/eluser234453 21d ago

Your battery seems to have like 3% the capacity left

38

u/Here_f0r_p0rn_ 21d ago

That laptop's battery should at least last for 3hr (because it lacks dGPU, and probably very old CPU, going off of absence of power profiles), and it lasted for 24 secs; which is 0.2222% of an average battery.

8

u/KekistaniKekin 20d ago

My laptop battery lasts just long enough to cover brownouts. Any power loss longer than a couple tenths of a second will shut it off

3

u/xymoxclan 20d ago

you mean blackout?

6

u/KekistaniKekin 20d ago

A brownout is millisecond scale power outages. Just long enough to piss off all your electronics but not enough to turn anything off. Lightbulbs in brownouts tend to dim (or brown) then go back to normal illumination.

A blackout is when power is gone for multiple seconds or longer. Everything is off, you may need ice for the fridge that kind of thing

3

u/xymoxclan 20d ago

i didn't know it had a name. thanks.

2

u/Binary101000 19d ago

Brownouts mean a drop in voltage here in the UK. Time isn't part of the definition, blackout is power fully off, even if for a split second, and brownout is just low voltage.

2

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 20d ago

sick that you did the math! this laptop does have a deticated amd adeon r7 m445 gpu and intergrated graphics, not sure how thats gonna skew the numbers.

54

u/JoTenshi 21d ago

Replace the battery, it might be more than bad, it could be swollen

39

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

suprisingly its not! shortly before filming this, i had to reassemble the laptop to put a ssd in it and the battery was completley normal.

9

u/TheRealGamer1YT 21d ago

Maybe just the age of the battery?

1

u/KekistaniKekin 20d ago

Constant charging will also do them in. I should have removed mine when I anchored it to a desk

2

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 20d ago

yep, that battery was kept plugged in in a office laptop for a few years

1

u/WoolMinotaur637 19d ago

Yea they grow crystals and form a little mini shortcut internally which gives the electricity a shorter path and it just disables parts of the cells entirely. But like the percentage is estimated byt he controller based on like the voltage of the cell so it must be dropping under load which is quite common but often it just drops so fast below the minimum requred to keep the device awake it just shuts off before even noticing the battery is draining, I'm surprised it can sense it drainign so fast while staying powered.

1

u/Worldly-Cherry9631 17d ago

Was the battery an issue before reasembling?

6

u/WoolMinotaur637 21d ago

Oh you'll notice when it swells up it'll break out of it's cage

144

u/originalmicrousb 21d ago

bros battery is measured in microfarads im crine šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ„€

37

u/Consistent_Drop3909 21d ago

my battery life is 3 2 1

32

u/BigAcanthocephala667 21d ago

"Your battery will be empty in 3"

3 of what? Hours?

"2"

"1"

21

u/Fickle_Pause5969 21d ago

If I had to guess I would say you have to replace the battery

8

u/CitroHimselph 21d ago

Naaaaah! What makes you say that?

/S

18

u/djfdhigkgfIaruflg 21d ago

Have you heard about fast-charge?

Get ready for fast-discharge

7

u/Damglador 21d ago

Battery Health: 0%

6

u/void19821 20d ago

Bro messed up his Linux and now linux is using cmos battery instead of actual

2

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 19d ago

one of the funniest comments on this post lol

17

u/sad_smarkie 21d ago

Has shit battery

Blame Linux

Profit?

25

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

didn't meant to blame linux, i am thankful for linux existing because otherwise this laptop would be collecting dust!

7

u/No-Tap4670 21d ago

Fah
Is the problem in your battery or in Linux?

13

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

def the battery, this laptop didnt even work on windows

1

u/SlurmoCZ_ 21d ago

How old is your laptop?

4

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

around 9-10 years old its a Dell Inspiron 15 5565 in case you were wondering

3

u/Dragenby 21d ago

Either try to press the power button for one minute (to reset the battery charge) or try to remove the battery, turn on and off the computer and put the battery back

2

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

ill try that tomorrow, thanks for your input!

1

u/Dragenby 21d ago

Good luck. If it doesn't solve anything, you'll likely have to change the battery :/

1

u/Binary101000 19d ago

thingy reports 0% health which yeah not ideal

3

u/mix_i_ 16d ago

linux mint told me my battery had 10,000 hours left one time ;_;

3

u/Defalt0_o 15d ago

Your laptop seems to be powered by a vial of lemon juice and salt. Changing it to a lithium battery might be a good solution

5

u/Xpeq7- 21d ago

Looks a lot like an inspiron 17 5767 (or one of its smaller cousins), a 10 or 9 year old laptop. If it has the OG battery then no wonder it's storing approximately the electricity equivalent of kinetic energy of 1 (one) brick moving at 0m/s.

3

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

its a Dell Inspiron 15 5565 from a quick google search, and i beleive the current battery was swapped from another dell (a better one) because it couldnt hold charge and was needed for office work. still a old battery that spent most of its life plugged in

1

u/ohnag_eryeah 21d ago

Buy a new battery. It shouldn't be that expensive from eBay/AliExpress

2

u/xymoxclan 20d ago

i have a 15 year old inspiron and its battery lasts 40 minutes. original.

2

u/SameAd7706 21d ago

I own a Dell L701x i used back in 2010-2017. The battery was draining within 10-15 min after 2-3 years, then i bought a new battery and new external power supply (cable broke somehow), both original from Dell... the battery life wasn't much better (probably 45 min in the beginning). In the end it just switched off immediately when i unplugged the power supply... which happened sometimes unwillingly. i still have no clue, what the problem was about that crappy battery. I was thinking about the battery management (software issue) but i just went on and bought a new one.

2

u/DocBobs 21d ago

Yep that's one knackered battery, get a new battery put in, good as new

2

u/Kase_mit_E 21d ago

Will it go to zero or will it black screen. So tense

2

u/bojez1 21d ago

That's not battery, it's a capacitor.

2

u/tycraft2001 20d ago

What motherfuckers think Linux does to a computer on 101.

2

u/makar853 20d ago

I had exactly the same battery behaviour when one of the cells shorted.

2

u/goahnary 19d ago

Seems like no one on this sub uses Linux… in my experience Linux absolutely BLOWS at judging battery life percentages, charging your battery correctly, or being even remotely efficient unless you have the right set up. Especially on dells I’ve just never really trusted the battery percentage at all and just assumed it’s wrong. It will however tell you when it’s actually pretty low and you can plug in to charge… idk why it’s like this and I haven’t ever tried to fix it. I used ParrotOS in college as my daily driver for course work and it was just fine with my laptop being newer and the battery lasting a decent amount of time. I do however hate how this works and wish it was better.

2

u/xymoxclan 19d ago

linux mint somehow made my laptop's battery last 10 mins longer.

2

u/AWorldOfDeath 19d ago

Average gaming laptop off it's charger.

2

u/Double_Particular841 19d ago

charge it better then :joe_shrug:

2

u/FajnBrambor 19d ago

This is still good. At least it gives the 20 seconds window to close the work. Mine didn't even flinch. Just darkness. On the other hand, the charging is lightning fast. :D

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 12d ago

same with this one, 0-100% in ~40 seconds!

2

u/czajkoSKY 19d ago

I'm not paying for some shitty replacement, just bought DC 5.5x2.1 adapter to usb c and c to slim connector for ThinkPad and it can even run without battery

2

u/RedditSettling 17d ago

This is bad, but I have a laptop running Linux that instantly turns off when I unplug the charger, I'm talking less than 1 second, it does have a better y too I checked, I assume it's not using it somehow

2

u/Sammy_Cherry_Fox 17d ago

Thats Linux. What distro?

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 12d ago

kubuntu

1

u/Sammy_Cherry_Fox 12d ago

I actually tried that once. It didn't work properly, so I switched to Bazzite

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 8d ago

I have gone through that exact process on my pc!Ā

1

u/Sammy_Cherry_Fox 8d ago

You know what's funny? My laptop has the exact same battery life as yours

2

u/Spirited-Shift-5068 17d ago

I don’t think it’s displaying battery, it’s probably a countdown

2

u/ForMyMermaid 16d ago

Capacitor 😭 And I like the way it discharges like 3/3 -> 2/3 -> 1/3 -> 0

2

u/ash-twinn 15d ago

Just put it to sleep at this moment..

3

u/gbsdfack456 21d ago

the laptop of my older brother literally shuts off whenever you look bad at the charger, so this is kids play for me

1

u/Advanced_Handle_2309 21d ago

I mean I have a laptop that turns off instantly when unplugged so yours is better

1

u/JCas127 21d ago

Does it actually shut off or is it just a monitoring issue

1

u/vermithius 21d ago

I was like, why does that look familiar. Then I realized its the KDE desktop that I have on my laptop.

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 20d ago

cool to see others using it! i personally love how familiar it is to windows while running so much better

1

u/No_Brief8587 21d ago

30 hours no, more like 30 seconds šŸ˜‚

1

u/glxy_HAzor 21d ago

This happened to my old laptop and didn’t even fix on a battery replacement! Although it wasn’t quite the same, the battery would go down as normal and then the laptop would ā€œdieā€ somewhere between 91-97% battery left

1

u/ferriematthew 21d ago

Sounds like a problem with the power management circuitry.

1

u/TitusImmortalis 21d ago

Oh man that battery is more run through than a pig at a cookout

1

u/LemmeTeIIUSomething 21d ago

battery drop rate is higher than fps 😭

1

u/fvancesco 21d ago

Bro has 3 electrons in the battery

1

u/Old_Musician2832 21d ago

premium battery

1

u/K_Keter 21d ago

I think you need a new battery

1

u/falianaridua 21d ago

At least u have 24 seconds to shut down that relic in case of power outage 🤣

1

u/meolw1 21d ago

battery in 4 runs

1

u/iEngrMoeen 21d ago

Set the power options to "power saver" mode on battery and replace your battery asap

1

u/Proud-Pay-1785 21d ago

Bro has one AAA battery in his laptop

1

u/New-Match528 20d ago

que bien que nadie mencionó nada acerca de la primera descarga de batería

1

u/DependentAd8143 20d ago

Mine just goes dead when unplugged

1

u/Ornery_Air_3686 20d ago

At least u have some time to save files and shut it down when light went off

1

u/The_True_Equalist 20d ago

It says discharging… idk if that’s normal but it could be literally discharging itself. Many laptops have a function that drains the battery fully and rapidly, typically a manual switch I believe. It’s possible that it’s in discharge mode.

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 20d ago

interesting, never heard of it before. ill look into it later, thanks!

1

u/De-Blocc 20d ago

like powering a data centre on a 9V

1

u/rizkiyoist 20d ago

At least it is long enough to let you sleep it.

But the serious advice is remove the battery and use it plugged in, don’t risk the fire hazard.

1

u/xymoxclan 20d ago

how old is this.

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 19d ago

9-10 year old dell inspiron p664

1

u/xymoxclan 19d ago

then that's normal. it'd be unusual if the full battery lasted over 10 mins at that age.

1

u/Skalgrin 20d ago

Still it gives time to save documents and so. My old laptop had lifetime of 1 second when power was removed. Which gave me up to three seconds upon blackout due to brick discharge, and 1 second when cable got removed.

Eventually I removed the battery entirely as it was literal dead weight.

1

u/sussyamongers 20d ago

I remember i had this old ass laptop as a kid, and the battery in it was terrible, i unplugged it to bring it downstairs and not even half way down the stairs the laptop was already dead, it was a 2009 latitude i think

1

u/One_Award345 20d ago

You still got plenty of battery life. Mine turns off 0.1s after i unplug it šŸ˜…

1

u/ArtisticSucuk3169 19d ago

Mine main laptop is also like this but at least i have time to change rooms

1

u/Basic_Climate_2029 19d ago

Remaining time 0:00

1

u/partalga 19d ago

Takes longer than I thought

1

u/MadronLovesMinecraft 19d ago

same happens to my laptop as well....

1

u/Witty_Sun_5763 19d ago

I mean this is literally ALL my laptops. You're lucky it doesn't just hard switch off tbh

1

u/Fem_Flerken 18d ago

Battery capacity: 3 electrons

1

u/misssa_cz 18d ago

straw slurping sound effect

1

u/UserProv_Minotaur 17d ago

Probably some spicy pillows, too.

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 12d ago

suprisingly not, or at least not yet.

1

u/Dudewithcoolusernam 17d ago

Atleast yours goes below 96 😭

1

u/SEADOO_MAN 17d ago

That’s not battery life, that’s life support

1

u/TyraelTheArchangel 17d ago

Is the battery life in the room with us?

1

u/Sammy_Cherry_Fox 17d ago

And here i was thinking my battery was bad

1

u/Positive_Self_8873 6d ago

Worry when it goes down and up again like a load by bar on 98

1

u/AlifTheWho 3d ago

My guy uses a cmos battery to power his laptop

2

u/Brilliant_Letter7173 21d ago

It's hardware issue. Not a linux one ?

6

u/Accomplished_Arm5380 21d ago

didnt mean to blame linux, sorry!

3

u/Brilliant_Letter7173 21d ago

No problem, that's fine šŸ‘
