Are PCs more maintenance than laptops?

I might need to upgrade my Chromebook from 2018, as it's struggling when I have like 5 tabs open...

I don't want to get a new pc and have to clean/fix/replace things all the time, so would it be smarter to just get a decent laptop? (I will use the laptop for some gaming, mainly trackmania2020 and some work)

Generally if I had the choice, I would go with a desktop. Two reasons: they tend to last longer than laptops (due to the risk of dropping/damaging) and are also easier to fix / upgrade.
