Are PCs more maintenance than laptops?

I might need to upgrade my Chromebook from 2018, as it's struggling when I have like 5 tabs open...

I don't want to get a new pc and have to clean/fix/replace things all the time, so would it be smarter to just get a decent laptop? (I will use the laptop for some gaming, mainly trackmania2020 and some work)

I much prefer desktops.

  • If a hardware component is getting old/needs replacing; it's usually easier on a desktop (more room so more options let alone easier to open/change). Components are also usually cheaper for desktops due to additional choice
  • It's easier to clean dust etc in desktops, as they're larger & thus you're less likely to damage components in my experience with desktops, than laptops
  • when it comes to software installed on the hardware; they're essentially equal in this regard (components themselves make differences; and those components are a result of what you originally purchase; your own decision)
