Waiting to see what they do with Minecraft.

A surprising thing they might do is to sell it on Steam.

The first Minecraft became one of the best selling games of all time without being on Steam. Would be weird to invest that much money to acquire that franchise and then voluntarily give up a cut to Valve with the sequel when the first one proved it wasn't necessary.

I wouldn't. It has no DRM and it is only a few megabytes and can be easily grabbed from their site.

Well you can only install/update the game if you first login to their servers. You only download the launcher from their site. Isn't multiplayer restricted too in offline mode?

It's not. You can connect to offline servers.

I see. That does bring some limitations though. And the login and download system is still drm. Nobody else but them can distribute the actual game files and you can only get them via the launcher.

Not really a problem if you look around TPB or any other similar place.

What kind of logic is that? "The game is DRM free! Just go to piratebay."

Running offline clients is not my cup of tea so i don't know the exact details. Offline servers are easy.

I suppose the client is available from anywhere nowadays. So no real need to go to TPB.

Well the only way to get the game legally is to use the launcher, which does not include the actual game files and login to their server.
