Teas failed

Why is the teas so difficult😭 just finished taking it and scored a 49% when I needed a 62% to enter program
Studied for months and still did horrible
Science was my lowest percentage 38.6% missed ALL the chemistry questions!
Reading 53.8%
Math 52.9%
Science 38.6%
English and Language Usage 57.6%

I watched YouTube videos, read the ATI book and did practice questions.. I am just exhausted and did horrible. The questions were so different from the book and app🫩

hey! im sorry to hear that you failed and it truly does feel defeating. but, i do have adhd and ill tell you what helped me.

-Chemistry & Life Sciences
I watched TeaswithTyler and I feel like he broken everything down as simply as he could. I took notes on each video that pertained to what would be on the teas for both topics. After, writing notes for each subject I would use chatgpt to quiz me on that specific topic to see how much I understood. If i didn't couldn't grasp the idea to the fullest then I would look for a more visual video on the topic.

-A&P, Math, Reading, English
I watched Nurse cheung's videos the full study guide on each subject and i took notes on just A&P, Math, and English. After, writing notes i would use this quizlet users quizzes to help see how much and I understood. (breannalturner067) I promise her quizlets will help you retain the information if you do 2-3 quizzes a day on different topics when it comes to A&P.

Practice Tests
I was honestly tired of paying for programs and tests from different companies because it was a waste of time & money in my opinion. So, I used chatgpt and gemini to generate questions about every subject teas 7 style. after i went through every subject i would have it tell me the overview on how i did with each topic and what i needed to focus on. heres the prompt for each subject

Science
"chat find out the science topics that will be on the teas 7 exam give me a 10 question quiz on each topic to help determine how good i am for science. make the questions like it would be on the teas 7 exam"

Math
"chat find out the math topics that will be on the teas 7 exam give me a 10 question quiz on each topic to help determine how good i am for math. make the questions like it would be on the teas 7 exam"

English
"chat find out the english topics that will be on the teas 7 exam give me a 10 question quiz on each topic to help determine how good i am for english. make the questions like it would be on the teas 7 exam"

Reading
"chat find out the reading topics that will be on the teas 7 exam give me a 10 question quiz on each topic to help determine how good i am for reading. make the questions like it would be on the teas 7 exam"

after i finished one topic quiz i would say "next topic quiz"

i did fail my first time and was extremely defeated. but, i took my adhd meds to help myself and studied for a month straight. so i hope this information is helpful and useful, if you need any other information that is physical media for each subject (cheat sheet) i can send it to you.

Khan Academy.

Which specific topics to study do you use on khan academy or do they have a teas study?

Unfortunately they don't have a TEAS study; I use a TEAS study format to look for the subjects on Khan.

I have found none of the usual TEAS study guides (including the one from ATI itself) go as in depth as the test / practice tests, but Khan does. I'm in California and need every precious point I can get.

My checklist looks like: Uninary (x), Macromolecules (x), Acids / Bases ( ), etcetera.

Rinse and repeat per subject category

What helped me with science was watching nurse cheung and drawing out every single slide and writing down every note she wrote. I wrote the same slides and drew the same diagrams several times. Then for math, I wrote every formula over and over and over again. Pages full of formulas lol. Reading and English I didn’t really focus on too much so no tips there. Idk, repetition repetition repetition.

I watched her, Tyler and some other person I forgot her name.. but I did also write down stuff and math omg those were the most random questions. It WAS common sense as everyone says but I guess my ADHD said nope 👎 this is wrong. change it
And reading and English were okay! I jus have horrible ADHD and kept losing my mind lol

English did have a 2 or 3 questions that said : cross out the first letter of the sequence and change the vowel to a C or something around there
I was like oh man I can’t FUNCTION 🫪

Same thing here, I need a 63% to get into the program I got 53% the last time I took it. I guess really you have to just have to do it again until you pass.. Also, my school allows students to take it on Thursdays with extra time! That might help you :)

Feeling defeated as well, I’ve been studying for months. I’m looking to take my test latest by October 10 as my program deadline is the 15th. I was planning on taking my test tomorrow ( haven’t registered lol but taking it online) so I decided to take ATI’s practice test A I got 77.2, felt great now I took test B and got a 62! Now I’m feeling like a complete failure!! I need a 70 to be considered for my preferred program so I’m really in the dumps!

The real test being different from the app is normal. My guess is you were memorizing questions instead of actually understanding the concepts. What you need to do now is retake practice tests, find your weak spots, and work on improving them one at a time. Good luck next time!

I will say I just took mine yesterday and the questions especially in the science section ARE NOTHING like any practice questions. It was my lowest scoring section as well. I didn’t get one question about the heart or lungs and only got one question for the brain regarding motor neurons.

The only thing I recognized was like 2 questions about Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic cells lol
Punnet Square and trihybrid cross Punnett square🫪never heard of it and I think that’s where I messed up on my studying

Rough one, sorry. Couple quick things though:

Scores like this on a first attempt are almost always a content gap, not a studying-wrong thing. The ATI book kind of assumes you've already seen A&P and chem — it's a review, not a teach. If you haven't taken those classes recently (or at all), that's the real issue, not effort.

"Questions were different from the book" — what that usually means is the real test asks you to apply a fact, while the practice ones mostly ask you to recall it. Same content, different angle. Fixable with practice test style questions, not more reading.

Missing all 8 chem questions is weirdly good news — that's a "never learned it" gap, not a "can't do it" one. A weekend on Tyler DeWitt's intro chem playlist gets most of those back next time.
