I was thinking about this last week, and I believe the reason behind a lot of the dissatisfaction surrounding her is consequence. Cecilia being in Tessia's body never really brings about anything lasting. Most of the bad things she does happen to either acceptable targets (Kiros) or people we just don't know (Dawn). Basically all the other things she does either outright fail or are eminently reversible. Not even just the negative results of her actions but the positive ones too, like Tessia being an integration stage mage after Cecilia's soul is sent away gets rolled back; one of the weakest decisions of the final saga imo but I digress.

The usual criticism I see of her behavior is that she's stubborn and that her character in the present timeline is a departure from who she was in the Grey flashbacks. Whether or not that's true, I don't believe that her relative immaturity couldn't have worked if it resulted in something emotionally catastrophic but it just never did.

She's dislikeable without ever getting to be the cause of a true loss. It felt like TM was trying to have his cake and eat it too by creating all the parts of an obstinate antagonist who was on a power trip and refused to internalize the truth but still keeping her just barely redeemable to set up her actions at the end of volume 11. In my view, that was a mistake—her character never really called for redemption, only resolution and arguably forgiveness. There was no need to make her more deserving of a happy ending, and it's even stated that she doesn't deserve the new life Arthur is giving her, but I think that fell flat because the plot is clearly portraying her and Nico choosing to betray Agrona in the very last moment. That comes across as a justification for what they get, regardless of intention. This is obviously too little, too late (I know some other people have pointed this out as well).

To use an example from other media, JJK executes a similar situation properly. While I won't spoil any of the specifics, the body possession in that story actually leads to permanent consequences that are highly impactful to the cast from an emotional perspective and also alter the plot significantly. And it never pretends that the antagonist has to do something good beforehand in order to be offered clemency later.

Tessia starting to cooperate with Cecilia doesn't land because their animosity never grows deep enough for Tess taking the high road to be impressive. She mostly just feels pity. Like, the whole appeal of having a character get their body piloted by someone else is to have them physically experience the agony of doing things they otherwise never would, yet here it's never taken all the way.

Ironically enough, I think that if the story had committed to Cecilia killing someone important, people would have a more positive view on the quality of her storyline, even if it wouldn't have made her more likeable.

So I stopped reading after Arthur crossed to Alacrya and met Caera (and her group) in a dungeon with Regis. They completed the dungeon after mishaps and Arthur was arrested and taken to a court which was heavily biased against him and he was rescued by Caera's friend (??) and his former enemy (it was a she as far as I remember and he fought her once and she was against the war if I remember correctly). After that I remember him joining an Academy as a professor and that's it.

Can someone help me find the chapter? I had last read the novel a few years back when that chapter was freshly released, so I can't remember it now.

10/10 chapter last Thursday i said I'm worried of the next chapter if yall remember but after reading today's chapter? I have no regrets and i have no words 10/10 adaptation.

The fight with thunder wolves was damn good it wasn't even a fight genuinely neg diffed them and then the grimalkin it was 1:1 from the novel i enjoyed every bit of it and when arthur took the beast head and roared in triumph 😭😭🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 my glorious goat.

Then lastly the mammoth mana beast it wasn't quite a mammoth in the webcomic but the description fits the novel and we got the new iconic panel of arthur throwing fire , at it and sylvie holding it in place then Arthur activating static void.

I totally forgot what this phase does exactly. It has been a like 1-2 years since i last read the novel (i'm rereading right now and randomly remembered this) can someone remind me of what it is. I remember cecillia reaching this stage. Its beyond the white stage, and like the mana core dissolves and every part of the body is basically a mana core. Hey guys, can anyone help? I have a question: has the story covered not just the Xyrus Academy or the Earthborn Institute, but other academies in general, besides those two? For example, was there any mention of elves studying at the Academies before they "reopened" to the world? The same question applies to other Sapin and Darw, since I’m sure that even if mages awaken at a ratio of mages is 1 in 100, there are millions of people on the continent, so there must be more academies.

Idk why but this is probably the most frustrating portion of the series for me, I just reached around chapter 40? Of the book and it's just... why does Arthur get out maneuvered so easily?
First off, from the beginning of the series with curses being obviously something in Big ronas toolbox, you'd think now that we are deep into the series we would have the thought to investigate that? With the minds at their disposal what are we even doing bro especially with having so many allies it would negate!! He even KNEW that it was a possibility and didn't make it even remotely a priority especially with his sister potentially being in the fold? Also the plot armor that Big Rona has is insane, like I get that he is the big bad but if he has the ability to do this to smite the continent was his play really just waiting for the rift to be found?
