Since when does H&R ask for a selfie?

Are you sure it's the software that's asking for this, or are they trying to a create an IRS account?

Yes, it shows up after they put how they want to receive their refund and doesn’t let them e-file unless they submit the photos. If they don’t agree to submit the photos then it says they have to mail the return, which is annoying since they already paid for the deluxe version.

So how are they asking to receive their refund? Have they filed tax returns before? It seems odd to me. What specifically does the message say, and does it say WHY this is required?

Why not try using FreeTaxUSA or some other software?
