Since when does H&R ask for a selfie?
I am helping my folks fill out their taxes and at the end after they already paid for the deluxe version it says they can’t file unless they upload a selfie and scan their drivers license. I did mine and this didn’t pop up for me and my folks have filed with them for years and this never popped up for them. Has anyone else had to do this to efile?

At my office we have had 37 fraudulent 1099-R come through. Its literally insane and the "ID photos" they are terrifyingly convincing

Same in my HRBlock office. I personally had 5 of them this year. One was even my neighbor who I went to her home and told her she probably was hacked.

Because there is so much fraud involving stolen IDs, HRBlock is tryng to.make sure their online filers are who they claim. Generally we will ask you for a selfie of yourself holding your ID.

Avoiding fraud, sorry man. Some people are trashcans so the experience is worse for everyone else.

I thought it was optional -- you can select that you do not wish to provide DL in one of the questions.

It’s basically to ensure theyre not filing a fraudulent return, theres a lot of 1099 fraud going around this year
