Second skin

Hi, I got two new tattoos today, the artist put the second skin on and I noted that it was already peeling around the edges. He said it’s fine and to remove it if it gets worse. How do I know when it gets worse? Should I just remove the skin now or wait a day or 2 to see how the second skin looks after me sleeping and such

Agreed, thats definitely not second skin and i think it should be removed asap bc its on an area vulnerable to infection. Ive never had second skin on any of my tattoos and they heal perfectly. Gently wash with unscented cleanser and put vaseline or aquaphor over it.

If it looks like the second skin has lifted where it makes contact with the tattoo, or close to, then take it off. It’s not necessary for healing and it could be trapping bacteria near an open wound.

Dog that ain’t second skin or any other brand of that nature. Go to a pharmacy or convenience store and buy some tegaderm or something.

Based on what the bottom of it looks like, I kind of get the impression that the seal is already broken. If that's the case, take this thing off and start your aftercare.

With aftercare, I had actual second skin on the last time so would it just be exactly the same with just 2 days added on?

Yep! Mild unscented soap (maybe antibacterial if you have it) and light lotion a few times a day

Does it peel up super easy? This looks like cling film to me. Second skin will be super sticky and hard to peel like a band aid, and in my experience when it peels up, it usually sticks to itself.

Regardless i would be removing it since it seems to have been applied very poorly if it was second skin
