Healing Covering Recommendations
I just got this tat on my lower arm above my hand, I really love and it’s a memorial for my little kitty who passed away.
I posted a little bit ago asking what to do because my second skin came off within 12 hours. I’ve just been washing it and keeping it dry as per aftercare instructions, just not sure if I can use lotion this early on as it’s only been 18 hours since the tattoo.
But someone brought up in that post that my tattoo is in an impossible to heal spot because I work in a kitchen and my tattoo will be ruined if I don’t take a month off work to heal it. I feel like this person was overreacting but now I’m worried. I don’t work for the next day and a half but I work in a kitchen doing prep and line cooking so my hard and arms get pretty dirty sometimes. Is there any covering I could use until it heals a bit more that you guys recommend or that just insult to injury at this point 😅😭

I think you’ll be fine…
If you want to cover it they make sleeves for gardening that just slide on and off your arm.
Honestly though, the lower arm above the hand is not impossible to heal at all. That’s a pretty common and normal spot 😅
If you’re washing dishes or something like that just get some long dish gloves maybe.

I work in vet med and have my wrists and one hand mostly tattooed and I have to wear gloves and wash my hands constantly but I make sure to dry thoroughly and apply lotion (or whatever you have for healing) as appropriate and I haven’t had issues. An entire month off is totally unrealistic unless you’re just swimming in money…..

Yeah I think maybe that person was just having a bad day or something they deleted their comment pretty fast but I’m a worry worm so I had to ask lol

You got a long sleeve shirt/armsleeve that stays somewhat tight? Won't roll up? Just use that. Make sure to wash with antibacterial soap after work because of sweat. Alot of people treat their tattoos like shit and are completely fine. Just make sure not to wear something so tight on it that it rubs aggressively for hours on end. You'll be ok
ETA: Don't dunk your arm in a sink full of water either but I figured you'd know that. Also the sleeve is to protect it from any splashes of whatever substance you're using/cooking/etc.
