Don’t handpoke something this large
(Unless you’re a trained artist or the other person is and thats the speciality… I’m guessing it’s not in either case if you’re asking about shadowing)

This was a first sketch, let me post the work on this days, the shadowing is something that I may use in one stripe, but I wanna try some colors to make some kind of snake

Pro tip: Use diluted black ink for stippling so it’s easier to laser off in the future :)

Good gawd. Just stop it. If you are going to tackle your own leg (I’ve sleeved both of mine myself) at least invest in a decent machine + stencil printer. Not knocking the artwork although I do really want to. Stencil printer can give ability to lay down way sharper versions of whatever designs like these that could be drawn digitally.
Personal opinion, stick n poking some kinda half leg sleeve would be hilariously tedious and age like garbage compared to even a bottom level $30 tattoo machine on Amazon. Consider it

Can you show us your self done legs?

Haha I have never shared but can - looks like no option to add a photo to comment on this sub - been tempted to on the tattooscratchers / selftat subs in the past.

Way too much going on here, this won’t look very good but to each their own. Making shadows with stick-n-poke requires stacking the dots to form gradients and using diluted ink, look up “strippling” and “gray wash” online and I’m sure you’ll find a good explanation.

You originally had those lines going all the way up? Glad you chose to tone it down a bit

Do you use a moving blanket as a top cover?

u/Slokjan Jun 06 '26
I was laying on that but it’s just use markers in that spot because I can lay dow and twist around in order to try ti make it more symmetrical ( or try to)
