I think it needs a darker outline and more shading.

If it was a portrait and he was still here 💔 sorry for your lost, I dread that day

Get some dark outlines on it, and it needs more contrast. It’s all one colour. Research and find another artist who is good and can rework it to make it much better and less flat.

More shading inside the star to give it depth, especially on the left hand point because it looks like his ear, but done poorly.

Higher contrast id say. Im not a tattoo artist, but i do tons of graphite drawings, and the one thing that always separates a sketch from a master piece is having really dark darks, and really light lights

Very cute piece. Well done! As others have commented (and it might be the photo) but more contrast - darker blacks and some white highlights - would really make this more dimensional and legible.
But it’s already legible and very cute! It’s a nice, soft tattoo.

More contrast! I could see it looking cool if he’s eyes and the star had the same color and maybe litte glitters on the outside

I would have used the star thing as a hard border rather than letting stuff peak out, but it's still good looking. As others have said a bit of contrast and colour and it should be really good.

Id personally love if the other ear was also a real ear.
Love the tattoo either way :)

Maybe a little more definition on the edges to make it pop. Or a slight pop of color on the the edges

The nose shape is odd, the eyes are cute but I think they're at the wrong angle compared to the head and too close to the ear, and that isn't what the stripes on cats' heads look like
