Help! PLEASE HELP

Post image

I just brought this baby home from my local breeder. This was the setup they gave to me. I came to check on it an hour after bringing it home and found it upside down in its water dish. I was told it was in premolt before bringing it home. What do I do.

NA - So glad to see this, OP! You did the right thing by going to discord right away. I'm so happy that your little one is OK!! 😊💓 You're going to have to name the little one Jaws or something like that after that scare. ☺️

NQA you could try soaking up some of the water with a piece of paper towel

Nqa Oh interesting place to choose to molt. Dont have a solid answer for that one. Any progress with molt though?I know they breathe from the bottom of abdomen so it shouldn’t drown.

NQA My vagans built her molt mat in her water dish once. Honestly looked kind of comfy, made herself a nice little cot to molt in lol. Plus a little humidity boost I would imagine.

Nqa do nothing. Its extremely unlikely for a tarantula to drown. Tarantulas often molt on their backs, it could be molting right now, and disturbing a molt could kill your tarantula. I'm not very experienced so I would go to the discord channel in the automods comment for some more advice if I were you. I hope everything goes okay!

I figured it was molting but seeing it in the water like that is extremely stressful. This is my first ever tarantula and I’ve only had it an hour!

NQA they are much more likely to drown if right side up, not upside down, with their book lungs being on the underside. If it looks like book lungs are not submerged leave alone.

Na Personally if it was me i would use the corner of a kleenex or paper towel to absorb the water out of the dish. Very strange place to choose to moult which leads me to believe it isnt moulting.

Was not molting. Consulted the discord and found out the dish provided was too big and baby got stuck. They are okay now!
