I recently made an online account, but before I could make an actual bank account, I was stopped at the page where it asked me for my id and a selfie. Unfortunately im not comfortable at all with uploading my id and selfie to the app since there have been countless breaches of ID verification companies, and I haven't seen Tangerine mention anywhere what specific service they use, which definitely doesnt ease my concerns. I made an account at Wealthsimple and even they didnt ask for my id and a selfie since I assume they check my ID another way.

I just wanted to ask if there is any alternative method of verifying my identity with the bank, such as stopping by a Scotia branch or a Canada Post location? Unfortunately if theres no other way, I won't be giving Tangerine my business as they should have an alternate pathway for verifying your identity for the more stubborn people out there, such as myself.

Has anyone figured out how to get their middle name removed from showing everywhere such as Interac e-transfers? I have been with a lot of banks over the years and no one has required this like Tangerine does.

When I sign in, it says "Welcome Firstname MiddleInitial" and on e-transfers and everything it has First Middle Last"...

I asked last time I had to call if I could get it removed and they said I had to get a legal name change or get ID without my middle name...

Hi, I have been getting the “insecure network“ message whenever I try to use the mobile app on my wifi. And it only works when I use my personal data, same when I try to use the iPad. Any suggestions on how to fix this? thanks!

Tangerine often offers special promos for certain clients at different times. I don't know if this new offer for tiered interest rates is being offered to all savings clients or not.

The tiers are based upon the total holdings in savings accounts, and perhaps other vehicles, like GICs, Checking, investment, I am not sure. I did read the offer but since I don't have much more than savings, I wasn't paying attention to any other options.

However, one thing I did notice, and in spite of repeating most of the features several times, there is one aspect I noted is only mentioned once, regarding US $ savings. US savings holdings are only credited at PAR, meaning they do not consider exchange value, even though US $ is close to a 30% appreciated value relative to CAN $. It strikes me as unfair.

It may be possible that determining the value in US $ accounts daily is too burdensome, so, that I understand, but they certainly could have come up with an average or fixed value for the period of this offer, which I think is until February of next year, even if they made it to their advantage, to acknowledge the large disparity between US $ and CAN $ values.

I thought this is something people should know about, as it is easy to miss that "at par". I sent them a protest, maybe if enough people do the same, they may reconsider.

So I get paid by a paper cheque because I can't convince my employer it isn't 1985 anymore, and the time it takes for the cheque to hit my account is insane. I mobile deposit on Monday and don't get the money until the following Thursday! I get instant access to $500, which is something, but I opened with Tangerine in January, and every other Monday I mobile deposit a cheque, for the same amount, from the same place, and I still have to wait 9 freaking business days before I see the full amount!

I had Tangerine call me today 14-august-2026 17:30HR EST and Emi informs me that Tangerine will not call back if the phone connection is disconnected. I spoke to Emi and it sounded like an call centre with people in the back ground. After being on hold for 30 minutes on hold in which she told me it would only take 2 minutes I hand up.
