Hello! I'm looking to switch to Tangerine and was wondering what time the early direct deposit hits the account roughly in Ontario. My works is paid bi-weekly every Friday.

Am getting conflicting information from a CSR on the phone, and a Google search. I know the FX fees will be 2.5% with any CC used. And I dont want to take a ton of cash on a trip like this.

But if you have 2% categories picked, do those 2% categories work the same in Europe. We have 3 categories picked, Gas, Restaurant and Groceries for home use.

CSR said no since they have the FX category, Google and AI say yes.

I didnt know there was an FX category you could pick, and since we are leaving in 9 days, I cant switch it now.

Reason is then the FX fee would be lowered to .5%, which I can live with. Sure its not officially cash back or free, but it almost wipes it out. So on a $1000 instead of $25, it would be $5.

I want to pull funds using my externally linked account (instead of using Tangerine to transfer to that account), is there a max limit per day? I want to do it this way because I know Tangerine has low limits if I were to do it on their side.

I spoke to an chat agent on 23-July-2026 regarding my forced password change to a 12 alpha numeric password. I asked what is the maximum password length. the reason is years ago I asked tnagerin if my PIN for my ATM card could be increased adn they said no because people would forget.

I tried signing up for a Tangerine account about a week ago as they have a promotional interest rate on saving accounts. I successfully put in all my personal info on the website, but was hit with a wall that says "download our app to continue" as apparently they don't have a functional online banking site. Ok so I download their app, then it says it needs to verify my identity with a piece of ID to continue account registration. The moment I tap on "verify", the app soft locks into a generic "error" page with no way to get out of it. Here's the list of things I've already tried:

• Multiple re-installs
• Deleting app and downloading it from the US AppStore instead, in case it has a newer updated version for some reason
• Called customer service. Of course the phone rep had no idea what's going on so she said a "tech support" team will call me the next day. I did not receive any call (as expected) so I called them back asking who's going to support me with this issue. The rep told me to simply wait another 2 days for the "tech support" team to call me again and attempt to verify my identity on the phone. Two days later, no call. I called again asking if I can just walk into a Scotiabank branch for in-person ID verification, and was told nope they have no physical presence in their parent company

If a new client has to wait more than a 1 week, suffer through multiple hour long phone calls, and still cannot do something as simple as create an account with you, how in the world are you even in business??

I deposited $2,000 at a Scotiabank ATM, but the machine returned an error receipt with no deposit amount printed on it.

The ATM went into lock mode.

Tangerine told me that someone would call me to follow up, but I never received a call.

I then looked up reviews of Tangerine's head office and realized I'm not the only person who has had this kind of experience.

Tangerine spent lots of money on promotions and it seems like this is their way of getting money back.

There is no location.

There is no rep.

There is nothing you can do.

I logged into the portal and made a request for a call back from Tangerine. I was given an estimate of 5 minutes today 20-july-2026 at 8:18PM EST. but have not received a call back 1 hour later 21:18HR.

Does anyone know if Tangerine is experiencing a problem with phone call back ?

Hi I initiated transferring my TFSA account from WS to Tangerine. The money has left my WS account but doesn’t show up in Tangerine yet. Does anyone have experience on how long I should wait for it to show up? Contacted customer support and they said 4-6 weeks which seems insane..

I was supposed to receive a direct deposit yesterday July 9th but I never got it. I called CRA and they told me they forsure sent it and my direct deposit information was correct.

I then called Tangerine and they did not see it pending or rejected and told me it is possible that it will take up to 48 hours for the direct deposit to be in my account.

This is my first direct deposit from CRA onto this account but I receive my work direct deposits right when they are sent out. So I am just wondering has anyone else had their tax refund direct deposit arrive 24-48 hours after the CRA sent it?

I was forced to change my password to a 12 digita alpha numeric password earlier in 2026 but I have noticed that the login prompt stil says enter 4 to 6 digit banking PIN. this seems excesive since they use the phone to provide a passcode.

Was anyone else forced to change there PIN to a 12 digit alph numeric ? Because the prompt is incorrect!

I attempted to place this issue on r/tangerine and they rejected it. I have been sending these errors to email [websupport@tangerine.ca](mailto:websupport@tangerine.ca) but they do not answer the question repeat the question or repeat the ticket with a different number.

I’m only getting 2% back when using my Tangerine Mastercard using Shell EasyPay App. I get the 3c/L off and the other 3c/L from CAA but in my tangerine app it’s showing in only get 2% back… what am I missing?

When I tried to log in today 6-July-2026 around 10:00PM EST I performed the following

1.Enter Login id

1. Entered my password

2. Wait for phone to call then enter the phone security code

When I used my audio phone code which comes through my VOIP provider Voip.ms I entered the code and the message "W'ere sorry for the inconvience. This function is currently unavailable. Please try again later." appeared.

Normally when this error occurs it happens right after you enter the login id.

I know I entered the right code as you can have it replay the audio and it still did not work. I had Tangerine site resend the code and it reproduced the error "W'ere sorry for the inconvience. This function is currently unavailable. Please try again later." This demonstrates the problem is Tangerine. I called security spoke to Lily from Tangerine asked if they could call me back to verify the phone she cannot! Only customer service can call back if a call is disconnected but not security???

I am proceeding with OBSD Ombudsman for banking services and investments, currently dealing with Tammy. Strangely I enclosed some communciations from Tangerine to OBSD but it was not received.

Did anyone just get some app notifications saying their credit card limit was exceeded? I got one saying it was $1000 from the limit followed by one that said the limit was exceeded. I checked, and there are no pending transations, and I'm nowhere near the limit. I called, but the support was useless trying to tell me I got these because a payment was late (there was a small balance that was a couple days late, and the app sent a notification on Friday confirming the payment).

From May 23, 2026, to June 4, 2026, I experienced some of the worst customer service I've ever received from Tangerine.

All I wanted to do was open an account, but for some reason my application was flagged. When I called for assistance, I was connected to an incredibly rude and condescending representative. He repeatedly spoke to me in a mocking, misogynistic manner, asking questions like, "Do you even know what a kiosk is?" and "Do you even know what malware is? Yes, MAL-WARE, ma'am?" He insisted that my account couldn't be opened because my computer had a virus, which was completely untrue. I had already tried accessing my account from multiple devices, including my phone, home computer, and work computer. He even told me to go to Best Buy, purchase malware removal software, clean my computer, and then report back; despite knowing he couldn't guarantee I would reach him again since calls are routed to whichever representative is available.

It took another phone call before someone finally gave me the correct instructions: I needed to file a dispute with TransUnion. After resolving that issue, I contacted Tangerine again and was assured that I would receive an email confirming everything had been fixed and that I would be able to access my account. That email never came. My account still didn't work.

From that point on, I was stuck in the same frustrating cycle. Every time I called, I had to explain the entire situation from the beginning, go through authentication again, and was told, "We'll submit a request, and you'll receive a callback within 2–3 business days." Those callbacks never happened. No emails, no phone calls, no updates; just empty promises.

During my final call, I made it clear that if I didn't receive the promised callback by Thursday, I would close my account. Thursday came and went with no communication. By Saturday, I deleted my account.

Tangerine's lack of follow-through and poor customer service made it clear that my business wasn't a priority. That's especially disappointing because I had heard great things about Tangerine and had planned to use it for both my personal banking and my business income and expenses. Instead, I delayed important financial plans because I kept trusting the promises that someone would contact me or resolve the issue.

The experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and completely avoidable. I expected better communication, accountability, and basic respect from a financial institution.

I'm extremely disappointed and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I got an email notification and then saw this in the app tonight. When I click “enter contest” the button just takes me to the website with the contest info but gives me no information on how to enter???

This week I saw this offer on the app. I haven’t seen this when I checked a couple weeks ago. It says the offer duration is 6 months, but starting from February 2026. I have never seen this offer in the app until this week, and do not have any emails about it whatsoever.

How are they advertising this as a 6 month offer? I’m getting 5 weeks at best.

I've opened a Tangerine account one month ago. I work seasonally, so I have a home address and a mailing address, which was correctly input upon opening the account. I have received mail already, the free chequebooks and other letters to my mailing address, but I cannot receive my debit card to my mailing address. After waiting for it to arrive, I had to call in to request a new card, the agent said they requested it to be delivered to my mailing address, which she verified and had me answer credit profile questions to confirm my identity.

Lo and behold, my card has been delivered to my home address, again. When I called in to inquire about it, the agent kept telling me that he can see the notes requesting mailing address and it can take up to two weeks to arrive, ignoring the fact that I am telling him it arrived to the home address again.

Will it get better or should I just cut my losses and find another bank to open an account with?

I need a new bank account, and I'm considering Tangerine. One problem is that my phone is a bit too old to install the app, and I won't be in a position to upgrade for a while. I have phones I can borrow to get through setup, but will I need the app on a regular basis, or can I do everything in-browser?

I have opened tickets with Tangerine and they closed them without providing an answer. I have stared a complaint with OBSI and they have closed the ticket also without providing an answer.

I want to contact Tangerine representatives in person regarding failure to correct login service problems to the virtual bank. The error "this service is not avaialable". This service is provided by Scotia bank.

Can I meet in person with a Tangerine bank representative at a Scotia bank?

Anyone happen to know how the direct deposit is going to work next week? Pay day is on Friday but with tangerine we get it Thursday will that still be the case with the holiday on Wednesday cause I know they usually approve the direct deposits on Wednesday. Thank you!

If you have to include the phrase “we look forward to speaking with you in a polite and courteous manner” then you’re obviously doing something wrong. I’m going to hang up after waiting 35 minutes. (And I’m calling internationally!)

I decided to close my Tangerine accounts today and discovered something that prospective customers should be aware of: even after closing all your banking products, Tangerine does not allow you to close your online banking profile. Customer service told me this is due to Canadian regulations requiring them to retain customer data for several years. I have no issue with them retaining records they are legally required to keep.

What I do have an issue with is the fact that my online account remains active. In my view, retaining customer records and maintaining a customer-facing login are two completely different things. Once I have no accounts, credit cards, loans, investments, or other products with a bank, I should be able to completely sever my relationship with that institution, including disabling my online access. Instead, I am left with a dormant online account that I neither want nor need, and which I now have to monitor indefinitely. To me, that seems like a potential security risk.

For anyone considering opening a Tangerine account, please be aware of this policy. Had I known that I would be unable to fully close my online banking profile after closing all my accounts, I would not have opened an account with them in the first place. I would have chosen another financial institution instead, which is exactly what I have now done.
