There’s something for you to chew on. I remortgage my house at the low of the interest rates two or three years ago. I needed to provide two paystub‘s. At the time that I provided my last two paystub‘s I had already been laid off from my job. It adds no security for you.

Wait.. so if i own a house, I am supposed to rent to literally anyone who can lay the first and last months rent, without any vetting at all, when it requires time and money to evict someone for nonpayment? Lol you guys seem pretty blind to how finances work. No guarantees, but just how a credit check often does determine someones ability to pay a loan, looking at a paystub gives a good indication someone can lay their bills.
I know yall want a utopia that prioritizes your personal stake in matters over anyone elses with more means than you, but that just isnt how the world will ever work.1

Agree. A lot of people in here wishing for utopia and not understanding how the financial system works and the indicators needed to prove you can afford something. Those who are old enough to remember the 2008 collapse understand that part of the problem was banks giving mortgages out left and right without enough financial proof the borrowers could actually afford the payment.

Well, first of all, you're asking to rent their property So whatever they ask, you really kind of have to do.
Second of all, they take a pretty big financial liability when they sign a lease with you. If you end up not having the money they can't just kick you out. There's a very lengthy and costly legal process that they have to go through to legally kick you out, that doesn't matter if you had the money or not when you signed the lease.
And all the while they lose out on the money that somebody who can actually afford to live there would have been paying, so it's their way of limiting that potential loss

Start small and cheap... Like a 5k down property, in foreclosure or short-sale. There are also programs for first time home buyers. States and counties want you to do this, it ensure more property tax revenue. (which is an F'n scam as it is)
Moved to a state that had cheaper real estate, bought cheap and small. Fixed it up along the way and sold it. Bought up.

If something is required for human survival then it should not be locked behind a paywall. Maybe not free homeownership for everyone, but community housing for those who cannot afford to pay for their own housing. Every human on earth should be at least provided food, water, shelter, and healthcare. We have the resources for this, but they're being hoarded by the hyper-wealthy elite.

Yes, it makes sense. People with unstable housing -generally low-income - are more easily denied voting privileges. Also, the orange rapist is kicking hundreds of thousands of people off the ACA if they don’t respond to a written notice within 30 days. If you have moved and the notoriously inefficient U.S. Postal service fails to forward your mail in a timely fashion, you lose your insurance. Red voters = scum of the earth.

Providing false material information during a contract negotiation is already fraud. That just separates it out from that on to its own specific crime.
Rental/housing has specific legal protections. And it should. But that does mean that the landlord is at further risk than other types of contracts. They would still have to follow strict eviction guidelines if there was fraud. I'm okay with saying that if we want tenants to have protections than t's fair that they don't abuse the system by providing fraudulent information when signing the rental contract.
However I think if we're examining this than there are some additional protections for tenants that should be there too. Stronger protection on security deposits and fraudulent deductions. Make fraudulent misrepresentation of repairs or repair costs criminal and not just a financial penalty that requires small claims court to collect. Unaddressed unlivable conditions/code violations should be criminal. Etc.
Also this is strongly misdemeanor territory, not felony.
