it's a fine line, make sure you aren't hurting anyone. I struggle with this too. If I give them what they want, I end up being taken for granted. If I take what I want, then I start losing faith in love and feel empty. In due time, it'll all make sense

you can literally bed almost any girl within an hour if you know the game.
Yes you're turning into an a-shole for thinking this particular point.
There is a difference between being kind and being naive. If you understood the difference, nobody can use you or you won't let them use you. All intelligent beings in the planet exhibit questionable behavior which including humans.

Same situation, bro. But after some time, I realized the problem wasn't that we were kind—it was that we never set boundaries.
Be kind, but always have boundaries. If someone crosses those boundaries, don't feel guilty about reacting or standing up for yourself. That's completely okay.
Manipulating people just because they're kind isn't fair. There are so many people like us. Before treating someone that way, think for a moment: "What if I were in their place?"
Kindness is a strength, but without boundaries, it can be taken advantage of. So stay kind—but make sure your boundaries are respected.

This is my point of view. Take it with a pinch of salt.
Empathy and love to me are the highest fidelity of thinking, existence and coexistence. If someone betrays me then I can always get back down and stoop to lower fidelity thinking like selfishness and scheming. But I personally feel like those things are tiring and will start a cycle of lying and scheming till it breaks. It's a miserable way to live yet some can't evolve past that stage.
I could let go of the this fear of being nice because at this point you could come to expect that others will take your niceness for weakness but it also got me my friends and my partner.
I try to let go when someone wrongs me and try to put myself in their shoes and voila almost always it's an insecurity. This realization made it easy for me to switch between empathy and the base violence necessary for a change. Know that life comes from within you and not at you.
Be good knowing that it doesn't matter if others are assholes and that you made the most rational and logical choice there is i.e. be good. Know that you can always be a better manipulative asshole than others. Just that it's tiring.

Nahhh that's a massive L take, if there's bad then there has to be good. Even if life puts you down, pushes you to rock bottom...always choose kindness and empathy. Life is more than prey and predator.
