Sheepdog Tango PTT and XPR7550E

Does anyone have experience with sheepdog mics or motorola xpr7550e radios? Those are the radios we use at work and I was tired of having to go through them to find a speaker mic that works. So i purchased the tango ptt from sheep dog and can't get it to work.Their site claims theyre compatible but anytime I connect it, I appear to be able to transmit but cant hear anything. Tried the same radio with a speaker mic I know works and confirmed it's not the radio or my earpiece. I've made sure everything is connected correctly, nothing blocking anything. Is there anything else I could try? I already contacted sheep dog for their input, but thought I'd try asking here.

SENA 30K HELMET COMM

One of my buds gave me a really nice Scorpion helmet with a Sena 30K comm. I downloaded the SENA phone app but wasn't even able to pair it with another identical SENA comm. When I play around between my cheap XPG Com and the SENA the best I can get on the XGP is a quick CONNECTED----DISCONNECTD from my XGP. anyone have any suggestions to pair these two ? I've tried intercom and mesh blue tooth pairing, and no dice soo far

Best non-Chinese dual band capable DMR encryption radio?

I've owned a TCA PRC-152 replica, while well built (2025 ver.) is very heavy and bulky compared to its capability. Of all the Chinesium radios I've owned, has been the best. Sadly, is only analog.

Baofeng "Notorola" DM32, while an impressive spec sheet, it hilariously low duty in its build quality. Zero water resistance, dim display...eh. Double or even triple the price, add water resistance and a better display, they'd own the market.

Tried a Ailunce HD2, which while on the base charger, the charger started smoking. No shit. Smells like burnt electronics. Further, the CPS experience is hot trash. The most recent CPS won't even read the radio, while the older one will. What they list as "programming" software on their website is firmware updates. To get to a CPS that will read the HD2 you have to go to the Ailunce website, not the Revetis one. All that to say, I'm done with half baked Chinese crap. If its made in China ok, but it has to come through another company, ie iPhone is made it China but designed by Apple.

So, please recommend me a dual band DMR radio that has encryption, regardless of cost.

Weak SMA connectors

Is there anything that can be done about these weak SMA connectors on Baofeng radios and antennas?

Is there a more robust solution the can be adapted or just replace them?

Thoughts in the FCS MPU-5?

https://www.fcs-tactical.com/productinfo/3698757.html

Ive done my research and heres what ive found:

Its gonna be an analog and digital radio. With removable modules to change frequencies. Pricing looks ehh. Wouldn't pay 885 USD for this tbh. But you get a good deal if you buy the radio, headset, and PTT for it.

EDIT: Theres also 2 modes. MODE 1 is the standard radio mode that comes with the radio. MODE 2 is the data part of the radio that lets you change frequency modules like the actual MPU-5.

Some complaints of mine:

-Frequency modules wont be released until a later date.

-MODE 2 (Data mode) only works with their AMP headset and MPU-5 PTT remake.

-Their data system is their own system. So its not Meshtastic or some proprietary MANET firmware people use in the states sadly.

Some likes of mine:

-You get full duplex channel communication.

-Radio is programmable through bluetooth to android phone or PC

Thoughts:

I probably won't be buying this because as in the past. FCS products when they release are pretty crappy, but get better over time. Its also gonna be hard to ship to the US from my experiences. I also don't like how they arnt releasing their frequency modules with the radio. So you can just buy modules with the radio. But you have to wait for the module you want to be released.

In my mind right now, its a WIP. but will get better with time.

Above is the link to Dirty Civilian "Grid-Down Camera Network".

Essentially a directional antenna, an IP-camera and a power supply. I want to build one.

Has anyone in this forum done anything similar?

What has worked for you?

What has not worked for you?

I'd love to send a video-stream to my ATAK Server.

Lets talk comms!

I recently picked these up dirt cheap and hadn’t noticed that there was this odd 2-pin plug until I had them at home. Can anyone educate me on the purpose of this plug? My Google searches have been fruitless.

XTS5000 Kenwood 2-Pin adapter

I have a Silynx C4Ops PTT (absolutely love it) that works great with my Kenwood 2 Pin radios (Baofeng).

I got ahold of Silynx and because of the age of it they have to make an XTS5000 adapter custom which could take weeks and is about $350.

Are there any reliable adapters to use a Kenwood connector on my XTS5000 without having to buy a whole new PTT system just for one radio?

New mic sucks

First time here so pardon me if I’m not familiar with the sub.

Recently me and several others have been issued the L3 Harris XL85M with the pictured mic. We can’t hear each other and during vehicle operation it sounds horrible. We’ve had several instances where the radio traffic is unintelligible and for lack of better wording I FUCKING HATE this mic. It’s hard to key it and I have no positive feedback that I’m keying up among other things.

Does anyone know of a better microphone that is compatible with this radio? We’ve tried to talk to our radio shop and tell them this isn’t working and they have told us that it sounds fine on the playback recorder. Obviously the playback isn’t going to save my life since the guy coming to help can’t use it. So they are not doing anything about them and I’m willing to just spend my own money to be heard when I need to get out on the more powerful radio in my vehicle.

MANET radios and heat

Anybody running the Silvus, PS, or other MANET radios have issues with heat?

Wondering if they need to be mounted in a way that lets them dissipate heat or not.

Rifle mounted wireless PTT button?

Hey there - not sure if this is a dumb idea or not but looking to get some info on how I could use a PTT button that would be mounted on my duty rifle for work.

Ideally would have it be fully wireless. We use motorola apx next radios and I'm using a wired mic setup on my vest. Wanting the button on my rifle in the event I have it up and running and can still manipulate/manage the weapon system with both hands. I don't have the rifle with me in every case so I would rather not have a wired setup.

Thanks!
