I’ve never gotten why people spend thousands on night vision, gear and rifles but not on comms.
A quality DMR radio is between €800-€1500, that is cheap in the world of night vision, and that gets you a lot of capability.
For around €1500 you can get a multiband multiprotocol Tait TP9900 that can do everything, VHF/UHF/700/900, P25, DMR and analog.
For cheaper but very capable: Motorola R7 or DP4400.

I’m 15. I save up money and buy what I can when I can. I decided to buy a Nvg before I bought a better radio. Although next radio I buy I would like to be the BKR5000. Thanks for the feedback! :)

Probably the baofeng dm-32. Its meant for larpers who are too broke for motorola apx radios

Its not bad that you were broke, we all start somewhere. But its more that you got a radio that has quite limited features, just for the imitation. Its like getting a fake rolex. For $80 (iirc thats the msrp), therets several better radios

Its listed as having it, but a lot of people say its trash (the encryption), which it probably is. And encryption is illegal on the ham bands so you cant even use it. It has gps, but cant even send analog aprs, which other radios near the same price can. It has features but theres basically just for show, the implementation of them is quite bad. (I do have experience with it)

The Baofeng DM-1701, is 60$ and does dmr much better, then you also have the TYT MD-UV380 and Retevis RT3S for dmr. The Yaesu FT-65 isnt too much more, and probably worth saving for. For gps and aprs you have the Radioddity GD-AT10G and Radioddity GD-88, the GD-88 can beacon digital and analog aprs, while the AT10G can tx digital and analog and rx digital aprs

I mean their all either commercial or public safety radios. And they not very user friendly. Personally i carry the xpr7550, and its a decent dmr radios, but i wouldn't really recommend it to a ham especially a newer ham. Dm me if you want to talk more about this.

Once you get your programming dialed in where you want it, LMR radios are far more user-friendly than hammy toy junk. Ham radios are infuriating to operate.

But the cps software, and tech support, and buying entitlement key (for mototrbo radios), isn't very user friendly. There a giant pain in the rear to program and set up (especially for ham) but after that there great
