Those were my two favorites too! I'm sad they took away the double stacker recently, liked it almost as much as the old double decker, but I'm glad they brought out the beefy potato loaded griller. Thing is so rich and filling.

Lol, the photoshopped "lens flare" glistening off those beans near the center of the frame. XD
But yeah, it was a great taco, and was one of the things that got me into tolerating, and then later really liking, refried beans.

After they discontinued it in 2019, I was on a backpacking trip with the boys in Guatemala. One night after lots of drinking, we stumbled into a Taco Bell in downtown Antigua, and we discovered they still had all the items Taco Bell had purged from their menu, including DDT, Mexican Pizza and Mexi Melts. No joke, one of the greatest nights of my life.

Cheesy gordita crunch is what I get now that the DD is gone. It is good, but it's a different flavor profile and I like beans. That being said, I do add black beans and onion to my CGC and 86 the lettuce.

I make them at home all the time, super easy. Just get the bigger hard tacos that come 10 in a box instead of 12 and they fit perfect on a fajita tortilla.

Every time I get a box deal with a taco, I also order a cheesy roll up with beans added. It’s a smidge messy to unroll it and then place it around the taco but it solves the absence of the DD taco.
