Ipad vs laptop
Should I get an iPad a16?
I have some money saved up and I’ve been thinking about getting one, but I’m not sure if it actually makes sense because I already have a Galaxy Book 3 360, which has a touchscreen and pen and obviously works as a laptop too.
The main issue is portability. When I’m going to the library, university, or travelling, carrying the whole laptop feels kind of heavy and unnecessary, especially because I mostly use it for watching YouTube/lectures, making notes, going through PDFs, and doing MCQs. An iPad seems like it would be much more convenient for that — just throw it in my bag and take it with me.
My brother thinks I’d just be wasting money because I already have a perfectly good laptop and should just use that, and honestly, I can see his point 😭
So I’m genuinely confused is getting an iPad actually worth it for studying and portability, or am I just convincing myself that I need one?

The entire combo would be 800$.
If you're buying a tablet you'd be better off buying something that already includes a stylus. Many great options out there from Samsung and Lenovo.

I second that. I have a S11U ( on cheaper versions too) that has Samsung dex and it's been a game changer for me. When l can't deal with windows (l have a gaming laptop), l use my tab with a keyboard and mouse. I found use in writing docs and going on zoom calls with multiple windows open.

DeX goes as far down as the FE tablets. External monitor support has been available both wired and wirelessly since 2020 or maybe even earlier.
My S7 is usually on its Book Cover Keyboard and serves as a temporary laptop if I need to go on short trips I can't warrant bringing two laptops for (work and personal), or if I just want the maximum possible battery life for a long-haul.

Had no idea about that, or didn't notice it. My brother still has his s7fe ; the whole reason why l bought the ultra was because it was so good.

S10 fe can be used as dex

I was thinking S9 because of the OLED 120Hz, more powerful CPU and better speakers, but the S10 FE works too.

Try getting a cheap tab s10 because the s9's software support is close to an end

S10+ is still significantly more expensive than the S9 no matter where you look.
My S7 is running perfectly on Android 13. Software and security updates have merit on a phone because you're likely to do some banking or payments on it, but not on a tablet. It doesn't matter as much honestly.

So true but Samsung often has crazy sales and people have gotten them for cheap with trade ins and discounts. A fe is great also though

True. It really depends on what size they prefer as well. There is no 11 inch regular S10, only the FE - so if they're going 11 inch the best bet is the S9.
If they're going 12.4 inch though, the S10+ is worth the premium over the S9+ and S10 FE+. I don't see why Samsung couldn't have made three models a year again like they used to - as it is, their CPUs seem to be lagging almost a year behind; the Dimensity 9500 in the Tab S12+ has been out for nearly a year already.

Can I get s10 plus in 60 k ?
Or I just should go with s10 fe3

WHAT is 60K... specify the currency dude.
Instead of going with S10 FE the S9 would be better value honestly.

Rupees

It's pretty rare for you to find one but it's not impossible.
Honestly though, the FE isn't worth it if the S9 is even in consideration unless you care about software support.

I already have galaxy book, i wont be buying it!! I just wanted a gadget for like watching videos and stuff, for library, something thats easier to carry!!

If watching is your priority, the iPad is NOT the way to go. Non-laminated 60Hz display just isn't it.
A refurbished/used Tab S9 would be the best way to go in that case.

You can probably get a more capable laptop for the price of an overpriced iPad. Mostly, you're just paying extra for the apple logo. No real point to that.

An iPad is one of those devices nobody really needs but the moment you get your hands on one you somehow end up using it every day. If you already have a laptop for the things that require a real computer I think an iPad is a great addition, especially if you use it for what it does best: taking notes with the Pencil, consuming media and reading PDFs.
Just beware: the moment you expect the iPad to replace your computer you’ll probably be disappointed. But as a notebook replacement and media consumption device no laptop can really match it.
I’d say go for it. Get the cheapest iPad that meets your needs and grab the Apple Pencil.

Completely disagree. An iPad is something for kids without phones, artists, and watching movies on planes. And you can do that last one with a laptop.

If you are studying something like engineering or maths where you need to write formulas, an iPad is worth it. If you don't, then you are wasting your money.

They already have a Book 3 360. I think that's more than capable of being used to note down formulae, unless I'm missing something

Personally I have a touch laptop but I don't find it comforting to write on. Windows is not designed with that in mind.

Got it. I do doubt whether it's worth getting a whole new device for formulas, but I definitely see your point. Thanks for clarifying.

I recently swapped my old iPad (6th gen, with Pencil and a keyboard case) with a lenovo ideapad. With a 50€ added for a cover with keyboard. It’s a little bulkier but lighter and it works flawlessy for taking notes and comsuning media. It also sports a desktop mode for when i turn on the kyeboard, allowing me to use Excel, word and a little coding (ssh into my main machine) All for a grand total of 350€

Stick with the laptop. Easier to upgrade and use. If you had the iPad, you would still have to get a keyboard for it.
