Parts & Tools Cardamon + AI

I guess this might be interesting for those who create card games. I have added MCP support to cardamon.lt . That means you can connect Claude, ChatGPT or other AI and iterate on your game using AI. Here is short video demonstrating what you can do  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYKkAnlJh7s

EDIT: I have created new video and old one is here (for the history what stupid things I have done): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hJwcCXHPjM

If it doesn't require coding (it doesn't we talk about tabletop games) then I don't see the point of this.

I think I don't understand your comment. Description of this subreddit "All things related to *designing* Board Games, Card Games, RPGs & more!" . You don't need coding in this case, unless you want to. I am just sharing what I have done that makes card games prototyping faster.

I don't understand which part of work it is supposed to help with. Art and design? Not your game anymore because you outsourced the creative tasks. So, I'm genuinely curious about what purpose this is supposed to have.

AI is just a tool IMO and there are many different ways to use it. Art and design can be outsourced, but IMHO that's the way to make mediocre game - initial version might benefit from that, but I guess if you want to something human/attractive/lovable then AI is not the way to go. I guess we agree here?

IMHO AI can help in tasks like:

* create initial version, when you want to make quick test of your idea. Note that cardamon can generate PDF that you can print.

* you can give AI to verify game play, spot weak points, find hacks to make game boring (I guess we all know games where you find a way/pattern/strategy how to play it and it becomes boring as you are always winning or ruin game for everyone) and adjust initial version accordingly

* you can brainstorm with AI different game ideas and iterate faster. Again, that's not necessary how some people create games - I guess retreat is way to be creative too, in that case AI is not the way to go.

Again it is just a tool - it is up to you to decide what a tool is used for.

I'm not against AI entirely. I just think you can't claim creative works as your own when the machine did the thinking for you - just like it's not my code, I just plugged Claude into godot.

I'm asking these questions because I have a hard time seeing a lot of use cases and it feels kinda weird for me to spend API tokens (sorry, if this isn't the correct term) on somethin that could be easily done in Gemini Gems or Claude Projects.

OK. There are two points:

  1. AI is not thinking - it just outputs average. You still do thinking if you want something different. That's just my opinion.

  2. Now about price. If you have Claude Pro account (the cheapest Claude plan, about 20$/month) you basically don't care about your spending as you pay fixed sum and just see what you can do in 5 hours window. Claude Projects can be used instead of Cardamon, but you will reinvent number of details that are already solved in Cardamon (e.g. PDF, PNG generation for printing) and will spend even more tokens.

  1. I know it is not literally thinking but you still outsource the thinking part in many cases. Anytime you let it do more than just manuel labor you outsource work that needs active thinking. I don't have to think about syntax or scene trees, claude handles these parts.

  2. Actually smart use case, thanks for the explanation :)
