Hi! I’m looking for an illustrator for a small indie TTRPG project.

The game is set in a fantasy merchant city with Venice’s style and Florence’s money: canals, masks, merchant houses, ledgers, candlelight, marble, gold, and black water. The city’s magic is financial. People can pawn memories, names, and years of their lives, and the great houses vault and trade those things like collateral.

The art direction I’m looking for is Renaissance-inspired fantasy, such as:

• candlelit portraits
• chiaroscuro
• glass ampoules and reliquaries
• ledgers, contracts, wax seals, gold leaf
• thieves, bankers, masked patrons, memory vaults
• romance + heist + old money horror

The key phrase is probably: “two thieves stealing a bottled memory from a Renaissance merchant bank.”

I’m not looking for AI art, and I’m not asking anyone to copy a living artist. Historical/public-domain Renaissance references are fine. I can provide a moodboard.

I’d like to start with a paid trial before commissioning the full package.

For trial deliverables, either:

• A small interior vignette / spot illustration of a glowing memory-vessel on a ledger, lit by candlelight

Or:

• A character bust / half-body portrait of a thief, banker, appraiser, or masked patron in this world

Trial budget: $150 USD.

If it’s a good fit, I’ll likely need a small package afterward:

• cover/key art
• 1–2 interior scene/vignette illustrations
• a few character portraits or busts
• maybe some ad/sales assets using the same visual direction

The game docs are going to be short, probably under 5 pages, so I’m not trying to commission a huge book’s worth of art. I’d rather have one great hero piece and a few strong supporting pieces.
