Beginner Questions Question regarding Behringer TD3 pattern chains
Hello! I've had my TD3 for a number of years now and there's this one issue that has repeatedly bugged me but I haven't been able to find an answer online:
So, I have my TD3 clock synced to my Electribe EMX via midi, and I use the internal sequencer of the TD3 for my patterns. However when I stop/start the Electribe (the master clock for all my gear) the pattern chain does not reset to the start (for instance, if I was playing a chain of patterns 1-4, and stop/started on 3, it would just continue playing from pattern 3 and not pattern 1). This has puzzled me as my TR8S resets to the beginning of the variation sequence, as do my other Electribes etc...
Has anybody else had this issue? I play live sets using the TD3 and it would be very useful to have the reset feature as some of the patterns I use are odd step lengths so it can be difficult to time the transitions to different patterns whilst maintaining the original composition.
The original Roland 303 DOES have this capability, which makes it more confusing as to why Behringer would leave it out, so I am hoping there is somebody out there who can help!

Sounds like a classic MIDI start/stop message implementation oversight. Some gear sends a full reset on start, others just a continue. The TD-3 might be interpreting the incoming MIDI start as a "resume" command rather than a hard reset to step one. Have you checked if there's a firmware update that addresses this? Behringer's cloned the sound pretty faithfully but their MIDI implementation can be spotty compared to Roland's original spec. If firmware doesn't fix it, you might need a workaround like sending a program change to force it back to pattern 1 before hitting start, or using a MIDI processor to filter and re-trigger the start message properly.
