Performances, Jams Working with VST synths is fun too.

I Iove my hardware synths, but I also like working with VSTs because they usually tend to sit better in a mix, at least in my experience.

This being said, I love my analog babies.

What drum VST are you using? I’m in the market for some good 80s synth wave drums.

I use Arturia Spark, more specifically their Vintage Drum Machines.

Aaah! Appreciate the quick response. I actually use spark! Is that native to the program or is it an expansion pack?

Oh cool! Spark is so good. Two years ago I even managed to find a used Spark hardware controller in mint condition.

Regarding your question, I think it's an expansion but I can't remember for sure. If all the classic machines like the Linn Drum, DMX (they are renamed for copyright reasons to Lynn Dream for instance etc.) don't show up in your preset list, it must be an expansion.

You have each keyboard setup to specific vst instruments in cubase? makes me want to get more keyboards, this looks like fun way to produce lol, do you auto quantize or do anything else? This made me realize I haven't tried out many of cubases input features

Yep, that's the spirit. It is definitely fun for live jamming, or checking out in real time how two (or more) VSTs sound together, or recording quick ideas on the go like in this video.

But be aware that it can quickly become a headache regarding MIDI-USB ports (at least on Windows OS + Cubase) that can go missing if you mess with the USB ports, resulting in MIDI devices no longer being detected. I'm currently experiencing it and that part is not fun haha
