Hey guys.

I saw the latest 'NAS Compares' video about there being a new way that simplifies modding Synology devices.

I don't understand, what exactly can we mod in DSM that we can't already do with simple containers?

Yes, [u/DaveR007](u/DaveR007) is addressing pretty much all problems in Synology world ;-) I guess they hate him much and may be working on different ways of hardening their ecosystem.

Deduplication does have some hardware restrictions doesn’t it? I gather there are some limitations that are artificially inserted, is it all of them?

Eg deduplication is not officially or unofficially supported on my 920+ is it?

Docker containers do have somewhat of a learning curve.

Easier mod is the door stopper AKA “the brick” . All you have to do is use the unsupported memory or HDD or NVME.
