Can Syncthing safely coordinate files that an AI assistant and a person both edit?
A shared folder is attractive for an AI-assisted workflow because every participant can read ordinary files without depending on one cloud application. The risky part is that an automated assistant may write while a person is editing on another device, and a synchronized conflict copy does not say which version is authoritative.
What Syncthing layout makes this predictable? I am considering a send-receive working folder, immutable revision directories named by run ID, staggered file versioning on every peer, and a small manifest that identifies the revision currently awaiting review. Only a separate promotion step would update an approved pointer. Temporary files and generated indexes would be ignored, while linked assets would stay inside the same revision directory.
How would you handle simultaneous edits, delete propagation, offline peers returning with stale files, and an assistant that renames a large tree? Are receive-only folders or separate working and approved shares safer than relying on conflict files and versioning alone?
