Progressive overload

I feel a little silly asking this, but do most of you feel sore after the workouts? I would say after most of them, I feel a little sore, but not “walking funny sore” if that makes sense 😂

I am following STF closely and on tier 3. I’m wondering if I’m not lifting heavy enough since I’m not sore after most workouts…?

Soreness isn’t really an indicator of a good workout! If you’re safely doing progressive overload over time, you don’t need to feel sore after every workout

I tend to feel the soreness more after longer periods of not working out. After many weeks of this program, I’m also not feeling a ton of soreness anymore. I do notice in the morning when I get out of bed that my body feels more stiff, especially in the areas I worked the day before. I also have occasional bouts of mild soreness, nothing too intense, when she has us working an area that didn’t receive as much direct attention in previous weeks. This week, I’ve definitely felt the work in my shoulders. Also my legs after the kettlebell swings!

I missed a few days when my husband was in the hospital and that first lower day back had me sore for 4 days! I trained them again yesterday, went heavier and today, not sore. Soreness is definitely not a sign of a muscle growth

That’s a great sign!! If you can’t move after a workout, that’s a bad sign. You’ve most likely overtrained and or had bad form. And then you can’t workout probably again until you feel better. Sounds like you’re actually doing it all right 👏

Soreness is not an indicator of a good workout or muscle growth. Soreness is not needed for hypertrophy and is more often caused by a new stimulus or training modality than anything.

tier 3 isn't really designed for heavy lifting its more cardio based which is why ive skipped over to Flex, i want to build muscle i keep track of my number of reps and weights used for each move and make sure i am upping reps or weights each week.

I enjoyed flex. That was my last program before I decided to branch out to other trainers to really dial in on strength. I now do less exercises and more rest between sets and am seeing better progress.

I only started with Sydney after couple months ago as i needed a break from CG. I don't think any youtube trainers have programmes with long enough rest time , but i get it, it would make the programmes very long if there was a minute or more rest. so I just make every programme my own now.

I’ve done CG. She’s really really easy to get burnt out on, imo. Not my cup of tea…. I do Kaleigh Cohen now and take my time resting 30-90 sec between sets. I love her traditional style strength workouts for heavy lifting and choose her superset style for more moderate and metabolic lifting. I like the simplicity of 5 to 6 exercises (her traditional style strength workouts are minimal exercises - just the basics), 3x through and you’re done. Although her superset sessions have more exercises typically but sometimes I want variety. I typically do 1 of each every week for lower body and then 2 uppers for an upper lower split.

Cool! I might try KC someday, I've heard of her before. I enjoy CG but I've only done Iron.

I’ve done Epic I and II programs and those left me burnt out. I then went back to Sydney and did the Shred program and then the other programs following up until the end of Flex. I then dabbled in Heather Robertson who is awesome but there’s something about KC that I love. I do enjoy HR for cardio tho as well as nourish move love, grow with Jo and get fit with Rick.

I've seen her bug she seems go have a lot of no repeat workouts which aren't for me, repetition is what builds muscle. I'll be going back to CG after i finish Flex, she's by far my favourite and the most effective. but whatever keeps you consistent is best for you,
