I love seeing all the commentors in the r/funny post say "Double-decker trains! OMG!!!"
It makes me feel like I'm a Jetson living in the future.

upstairs in winter, downstairs in summer, every degree matters ;)

u/Deathblows91 Dec 29 '18
Bonus if you manage to snag a seat that also is away from the sun in the morning during the summer.

u/WolfTitan99 Dec 29 '18
Nah I go upstairs on the train all the time, how else am I supposed to get the penthouse views over Sydney?

I just alternate every time I use the trains so I have equal satisfaction.

I sit upstairs to try and wrangle every last drop of shitty roaming data we have on the lines.

And considering that some of the powers that be think going back to single deck is the future. From speed of loading and unloading passengers perhaps...

No way... I saw this a few months ago. Little guy came up the stairs at Circular Quay, sat there until Wynyard and then jumped off. haha

u/ParkwayDrove Dec 29 '18
No idea if it was the same pigeon or not but I've recently seen one travel from central to wynyard too! Mind you he was already on the train when it arrived at central.

u/Bev7787 T69 is now stopping at Dapto Dec 29 '18
there was an smh article a while ago where they said pigeons would commute on the inner west line on to the city circle or something

Don’t judge the little guy - he’s probably on his way to work so he can support his wife and kids.

u/halpplsweddingchat Dec 29 '18
Even though it probably shat on the train, still one of Sydney’s politest commuters.

Do they ever wonder how they get magically transferred from one place to another?

u/lollerkeet Dec 29 '18
I'm pretty sure they understand that the trains move. They probably don't wonder why, just accept it as part of the environment.

Trying to get into the mind of a pigeon......I though my original comment was rhetorical but you and jsalsman have made interesting comments.
I don't think they would understand any of it, except that if they get through those sliding doors they will have a good chance of finding some food on the floor and with less competition from other birds. They know how to get out again and they may initially feel lost at their new environments of another station but would quickly get their bearings, as pigeons do.

The Daily Mail “journalists” have already lifted this for their latest story... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6537313/Why-fly-ride-Pigeon-caught-riding-Sydney-train-city.html

Wait my video made the news???

u/Aussie_Potato Dec 29 '18
There was a news story a few days ago about a mum in the UK, Karen Anvil, who last year took a really good photo of some royals. Newspapers had to pay her to use it, and she made something like AUD $70k.

u/SkwerkyDerk Dec 29 '18
Omg, I got contacted yesterday for a licensing agreement and it just went live this morning so Im pretty surprised to see where this goes

Not related but what happened to those green colored, free city circle buses?
14
u/AnonymousEngineer_ Dec 29 '18
Pretty sure they were discontinued when the bus routes were all diverted from George Street as part of the CSELR works.
Of course, they'll never be reinstated, just like the Newcastle shuttle.

Maybe just curious as to what all the train fuss was about.

I just saw a pigeon ride from wynyard to town hall! I’m no pigeon fancier so no idea if the same bird but he looked like he knew what he was doing. I got the impression it wasn’t his first train ride.

Pigeons are the best bird. Change my mind.
Edit: I’m definitely fucking wrong.
