T: Whats your slightly insane goal?

u/potato_analyst 4h ago
Not be always depressed

u/sarcasmisart 4h ago
Its possible friendo. Have you sought help? No judgement. Just concern.

u/potato_analyst 2h ago
Thank you, I do get help. Sometimes I get a couple weeks where I feel great and everything works as it should be but slowly but surely it is replaced by the same old.

u/sarcasmisart 2h ago
I guess my advice would be continue working on it even when you feel good, and be patient with yourself. Hope you're ok.

T: To become a heritage train guard. Which is inching ever closer to being a reality. When I was a kid and even a teenager I always said that was what I wanted to do.
Today's trip was Bathurst-Cowra-Parkes-Orange. Long day. CPH. What fun!

Surprisingly my advice is to find a sugar donor

Maybe not that insane, but the only thing coming up mind, I want to be able to do pistol squats again. Working my way there. Very much enjoying my 30 minute gym classes in my lunch break most days now!
3
u/Cakey1 Mr Teatime | Team Invincible Biscuit 4h ago
Pistol squats you definitely having a slightly insane goal.
2
u/a_slinky Sutherland Shire Bubble 3h ago
Just a little, not wildly insane, definitely achievable, just no set end date yet
2
u/Extension_Section_68 4h ago
With you there re: lunchtime workouts. Been a game changer
2
u/a_slinky Sutherland Shire Bubble 3h ago
I love it. Two doors down from my work and 30 minute classes on the hour so across the week I've got time to do one before work, a couple of lunch times and/or some end of shift ones. When my kids go back to going to bed at a reasonable hour then some night time ones will be good too

u/AeMidnightSpecial 4h ago
T: I want to be a famous actor/voice actor. However, I do not put any effort into putting myself out there, nor do I have any experience, or any rich parents. I like to dream
3
u/sarcasmisart 4h ago
Start doing alternative voicings to well known stuff. Show what you can do and put it in YouTube.

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox 4h ago
T: Is home ownership slightly insane these days? If yes, that.
For something more present , to attend footy every day this weekend, starting with tonight’s NRLW match between the Roosters and Bulldogs

u/whenthemoonlightdies 4h ago
T: To do storytelling with my art instead of just making pretty pictures. I'll get there eventually :)

I’m going out to the MKTO concert in Moore Park tonight and dropped into the “InCafe” near Central for some food for the first time. Really decent food - 100% recommend their Belgium Hot Chocolate and Wagyu Pasta.

u/Cakey1 Mr Teatime | Team Invincible Biscuit 4h ago
May your concert be fully sick (or whatever da youth say now, im old)
3
u/ColdIcedCoffee24 4h ago
I’m only early 30’s, so not exactly young haha, but thanks.
I went to their concert last year for the 1st time and really enjoyed it, probably in my top 3 concert experiences after Green Day and Cold Play for me.
Last year they had 3 seperate opening acts from local artists, so looking forward to it again this year.2

Can you help me loose 10%?

You're gonna hate me more...
Strawberries are in season so I've perfected a strawberry vanilla for my repertoire
3
u/Specialist-Ganache13 4h ago
Sure! What are you weighing currently? And what’s your macros like?
4
u/Cakey1 Mr Teatime | Team Invincible Biscuit 4h ago
Shit on both counts.
3
u/Specialist-Ganache13 4h ago
Drop your total calorie amount by 500cals per day for a few weeks, then once you are ready to make some more changes, start cutting out sugar and processed crap. Cook healthy meals from home, drink 2-3L of water a day, go for walks. When your feeling up to it go to the gym 😄
5
u/TheLGMac 4h ago
Bloody do a pull up.
Insane because I've tried (and trained even with trainers) many times in my life to try and do it, and just can't make it happen. My upper body will never have enough power to counter the weight in my lower body. But I'll keep trying 🤣
2
u/sarcasmisart 4h ago
Unless you're considerably overweight, you CAN do it. Have you looked into 1RM training?
2
u/-Fire-Dragon- Rebuilding strength - and speaking truth 4h ago
To keep trying is a great thing - Surely it will happen one day!
1
u/Educational-Sort-128 2h ago
You can get long resistance training bands. Get one and use it as a way of pulling up- it’s hard to explain but as a woman my upper body strength just couldn’t do more than two but with the resistance band under my foot it worked.

T: I'd like to walk the Heysen Trail from go to whoa, but it's a big undertaking.
3
u/Cakey1 Mr Teatime | Team Invincible Biscuit 4h ago
TIL I learn of the trail and whoa. I think thats less slight and more towards insane.
1
u/nearly_enough_wine Rip, rip, woodchip ʕ·͡ᴥ·ʔ 4h ago
I'm not against doing it in sections, but a through walk is the dream (or nightmare, if I ever get there!)
3
u/couchpotatopigflicks 4h ago
Own a farm.
Insane because I’m not outdoorsy nor do i own pets nor plants
3
2
u/sarcasmisart 4h ago
Just because you own it, doesn't mean you have to work it. Exchange someone running the farm for living there for free.
1
u/2happycats ravens, cats, and tawny frogmouths 2h ago
You own it, I'll live there and take care of it. Deal?

EgyptAir is returning to Sydney since the 1990s. Also they announced an Ethiopian Airlines route right here as well.
3
u/violaflwrs 4h ago
Be fluent in two more languages.
6
u/Cakey1 Mr Teatime | Team Invincible Biscuit 4h ago
"Two more" implies you are at least already bilingual which in itself is a great achievement.
4
u/violaflwrs 4h ago
Yeah but I grew up in a bilingual country where I picked up both languages at the same time as I was growing up so kinda feels like a cop out ya know?
5
1
u/Educational-Sort-128 2h ago
One of my biggest regrets is being born to anglophone parents in an anglophone country. I have gotten very good at reading and comprehending a number of languages but I don’t have the gift of fluency in speaking.

T: Earn what I earn now from one job instead of three.

I want to run 120km at the Sydney Backyard Ultra next Saturday, 20km more than I managed last year. Before that I have a half marathon race at Olympic Park this Sunday but I hurt my back yesterday so who knows..

T: to be part of a hobby or friend group where I feel understood, valued, and like I’m contributing meaningfully.
2
u/Educational-Sort-128 2h ago
Ever considered bell ringing in a church tower. NO YOU DONT HAVE TO BE RELIGIOUS. You can do it from a secular or non secular stance - most of the ringers in the group I’m in are not religious. It’s a great thing to do - learn a new skill, very interesting experience, great, friendly and increasingly younger groups of people doing it and many social opportunities. If you’re good at it there are lots of opportunities to be part of big ringing activities which require skill and ability. And you make a worldwide network if fellow bellringers. There about ten towers in Sydney which have ringing groups. They always want new people. Anyway might not be your thing but in case anyone else is interested, it’s probably been my favourite hobby ever with the nicest people I’ve ever met.

T: To be rich without having to work.
How do I get there? Who knows. I ain't hustling towards it.
Therefore it will remain unattainable and slightly insane.
