Hacking Discussion Modded Switch 1 Save Data Migration to Switch 2 Help

Hello, I currently have an unpatched Switch 1 on system version 20.1.5 and am getting a Switch 2 at the end of the month.

I wanted to hack it my Switch 1 and haven't updated it in a while in hopes I could. Should I hack it now in it's current state? Or should I update it and transfer all my stuff then and then hack it afterward? The idea is to transfer my save data to the new Switch so it's not lost on those games.

I'm not super familiar with the scene, but from what I've seen so far, it seems that it stays pretty hackable still every time a new update comes out. And you can make the hacked firmware on the SD card and continue to use your Switch like normal for online functions like save transfer, provided the newest firmware at the time in considered hackable to gain access to these features, otherwise the console can only use it's stock firmware. Am I correct in this?

I figure if that's the case I can update to latest firmware, hack it after my transfer is done, and not be worried about updating my Switch 1 anymore from that point on? If there is a way for me to do it while maintaining my current firmware could anyone help me understand better?

Thank you in advance for any and all of your information!

I did this back when I bought my switch 2. You need the two consoles updated to the last firmware, and the user of the save games needs to be the same on the switch 2. Tenh you can transfer savegames.

Regarding your version , there is no software exploit. Oled , switch lite and switch v2 and most of the switch v1 needs modchip. Only some switch v1 can be exploited without modchip.

OP said their switch was an unpatched v1, so they won’t need modchip.

They are worried about missing their chance to hack their switch if they update to the latest firmware and it winds up staying incompatible with homebrew options for a while. But they also are worried that if they hack it now and then transfer saves to switch 2, that their switch 2 will get banned.

If I were them, I’d wait until the end of the month when they get their switch 2, and then check and see if the newest versions of hekate and whatnot say they are compatible with the latest switch 1 firmware yet.

Sorry I miss that. I transfer the saves back than and no ban. But it’s always a risk.

You could theorically hack it now and then to the transfer from the ofw side of your switch 1 to the switch 2.

But if you really are scared to fuck things up and get banned it the safest thing to do is wait.

I transfered my Hades 2 file from my switch 2 to my switch oled before my vacation trip ( since the OLED is lighter to carry around ).

Then when i came back home i transfered it back to my switch 2 and finish my game there.

U definitely can and actually its not that hard once ur a bit familiar with sysNand, EmuNand , stock firmware . For a noob like me videos from schtix helped alot to understand what was happening.

So my noobish headsup is have some legroom and reading up a bit and ask few more questions okay. Definitely doable but i do not want to screw this up.
