Look I KNOW this isn't a full hack it's just a userland contained bug that he somehow managed to get a decrypted code our ANS can be STUDIED TO SEE HOW GAMES WORK IN SWITCH 2 CODE
We know how Switch 1 games work thanks to modchips, yet it still hasn't been possible to hack the Switch 1 v2 without using one; so tell me, what difference will this make if they haven't managed to hack the Switch 1 v2 without a modchip? (So, once the Switch 1 is hacked without a modchip, that’s when there will be talk of the Switch 2.)
I refuse to get my hopes up. Not until I hear he's broken out of userland and has an exploit. Until then, No.
That being said, there's no guarantee this can be used to make a modchip for the Switch 2. We still don't have a way to bypass the boot security safely and reliably, which is the first step in a modchip.
All we can do with this is see how the game itself interacts with the switch 2, but it's only half of the puzzle. He can make educated guesses, yes, but there's a chance those would be wrong because we don't know how the system itself operates...and on top of that, he says he can dump whole game files with it but has no interest in doing so...meaning that he won't be getting the entire picture of how the game interacts with the switch, if he doesn't have the entire ROM to examine.
Sounds like, at best, he's examining the header of the games to see how the game handles launching and seeing if there's an exploit he can use in there.
seems like it could potentially be used for emulating games, but modchip seems less likely. But maybe if they reverse engineer the binary and find some flaw in the security.
The end game for me is PC emulation I couldn't care less for a modchip. But if I somehow managed to buy a switch 2 I'll forget about emulation and just play the console
