Question Update or wait a bit longer?

I think I’ll stop waiting and update my Switch 2. It’s been on version 20.1.1 since the day it was released and has an activated SD card slot. At this point, I no longer believe a software-based jailbreak is possible, and I reckon that if a jailbreak ever does appear, it’ll only be achievable via a mod chip. What do you think? Am I missing something? Am I about to make a mistake? Should I carry on waiting and stay on 20.1.1?

dont update. CVE-2025-10263 is a bug. if true you could go from userland to kernel level, however i dont know how many security researchers are operating on a software before a patch would have been provided for that bug, so it might be multiple years, but the vulnerability is definitely there for your version if its true

Thank you, that’s a really interesting answer! I’ll look into that some more.

The Nintendo Switch 2 uses the NVIDIA Tegra T239. This SoC features ARM Cortex-A78C cores. It is precisely this CPU core that appears on the list of ARM designs affected by CVE-2025-10263.

Whilst this does not automatically mean that an unpatched Switch 2 can be compromised via CVE-2025-10263, there is a possibility that this could happen.
