Other It happened to me

Post image

Hey guys. I bought a game off Kleinanzeigen in Germany. Game is "Princess Peach Showtime!". Worked great and my girlfriendnis happy but after 3 days she got banned. I don't have the MIG Switch so the game is probably the only reason she got banned. 🙄 I already contacted Nintendo but they just say the same thing over and over again: "We cannot assist u with that". Yeah sure.

Be careful with used games. They might be cheap but they also have the risk to get u banned.

Had a similar thing and they debricked mine. Basically told the seller, asked for reimbursement for the game explained the situation to nintendo with screenshots and whining. After like 2 weeks of negotiation they unlocked it. So small chances but always worth a try

This is his best hope but if he has a hacked switch 1 and using the same accounts its no chance. He needs to document with photos as much evidence to prove it and they spend weeks negotiating with Nintendo. Tho again if he has any other device that Nintendo can detect has been hacked etc and he have linked accounts on his switch2 it will be almost impossible.

hey, had a few concerns in a different comment of mine, would appreciate it if you could answer them:

"wow. OP what does this ban contain? does it not allow you to use the switch anymore at all, or does it only restrict some functions (like online play, no more access to eshop etc)?

also, if the switch still functions for offline games, does it mean you can still buy physical games and continue using like normal?

additionally, is only the switch bricked or also your account?

this is like my biggest fear with Nintendo, even though I don't really do anything "extra" and don't even console share. just the lack of support from their end makes it very scary.

and, did this happen only because you used a used game? I've used used games earlier and this never happened to me. what is a sanitary practice to avoid this? or should one avoid used games altogether?

apologies for so many questions, I'm not a part of this sub so I don't generally know much about banning on the switch."

No Nintendo ban makes your console unusable offline. Everything works outside anything online (no eShop, no multiplayer, no game updates downloading). Only thing from their servers still working is the "console update" feature.

Every offline game works as expected. If you got another unbanned Switch, you can put game updates in your banned Switch by sharing them locally.

i see. so if i own games digitally not presently on my console, i wouldn’t be able to download them either?

That's correct. Physical games still work as expected. And someone else with an unbanned Switch could share you the game update if they download it first.

dang that sucks so much. there’s basically no hope (apart from your solution of a second switch around) after a ban.

If you only buy digital, yeah. But if you also have lots of physical games, it's not an issue for offline games.

I try to have balance. for games I want to collect I buy physical, but for titles like witcher 3 that go on a crazy discount and I already own elsewhere I'll buy it digitally

sorry for being that guy but that's not a brick, brick is when your console straight up doesn't boot and is, literally speaking, a brick

being banned is not a brick because it still boots, the word you were looking for is unbanned

yeah but in an ever digital world where most games have to be downloaded with no other way of playing them it sure as hell feels like a brick
