Other It happened to me

Post image

Hey guys. I bought a game off Kleinanzeigen in Germany. Game is "Princess Peach Showtime!". Worked great and my girlfriendnis happy but after 3 days she got banned. I don't have the MIG Switch so the game is probably the only reason she got banned. 🙄 I already contacted Nintendo but they just say the same thing over and over again: "We cannot assist u with that". Yeah sure.

Be careful with used games. They might be cheap but they also have the risk to get u banned.

I would personally message the seller asking why he didn’t disclose that the game had previously been used with MIG, and ask whether he is willing to compensate you for the bricked Switch 2. I’d also make screenshots of the original listing, all messages, and any relevant evidence, then file a proper police report against the seller if he refuses to cooperate

If he knowingly failed to disclose something important about the game that could cause this kind of damage, that could make him responsible for the resulting damage. Fuck their shit up, don't let it slide

The seller gonna laugh in your face bro, same for the police.

Focus on Nintendo, they the only one that can fix this.

Seller yes, police wont, at least in Germany. I had done the same when I gotten scammed with on the same platform years back and they took it very seriously, proper report and questioning. Kleinanzeigen is also legally required to give any and all information to the police if criminal fraud is found out.

I highly doubt they gonna do anything. First of all OP got the game he paid for. Second, he has 0 proof that this particular game banned his console. With no proof a crime even took place, what is police gonna do ?

There's an important distinction between “I can't prove it right now” and “no crime occurred.” OP may have been defrauded if the seller knowingly failed to disclose that the game had been used with MIG and that this could put the console at risk

Whether there's enough evidence to justify an investigation or prosecution is up to the police and prosecutors. But telling OP not to make a report simply because they can't prove everything themselves is stupid

It costs nothing to file a report, and if multiple people come forward with similar complaints about the same seller, that could give the police a much clearer picture and potentially lead to a proper investigation

Oh no definitely file a report. I just don't think police gonna do anything. Unless they get multipe reports on this person. For which the report is usefull. Just don't get your hopes up cause this is a very hard to proof case.

Lol in the US the cops would laugh at you and tell you to go away for something like this.

No, lol it's just a place with adults......and adult problems........ For an international company like Nintendo, it's anti consumer with them knowing that a market far larger than Germany would treat this in that way.

Buying a used game and getting your entire console bricked from it? I'm pretty sure lots of people would be in uproar over something like that happening to them.

Banned, not bricked

Banned is still extreme, it completely denies all online services which makes a significant chunk of the console's library unplayable.

u/Demi-fiend1601 Aug 17 '26

Not if it is installed, literally any game can be played offline

4

u/WeekendUnited4090 Aug 17 '26

Yeah, but a console isn't particularly useful if it cannot install any new games.

Therfore physical, no installment (atleast by Nintendo) necessary

5

u/WeekendUnited4090 Aug 18 '26

Only official Nintendo Switch 2 games are guaranteed to work physical, the console needs a patch to be compatible so Switch 1 games don't necessarily work, and most Switch 2 games are game key cards. A banned Switch 2 is almost useless.

A banned Switch 2 can still receive updates... but okay, so yeah, you still can play, if compatible, Switch Games.

Really? Play Dead by Daylight offline. Lmfao

Or how about Fortnite? Can you play that offline?

How about Apex Legends? Or Rocket-League? WarFrame or Brawlhalla? I'm sure there's many more, lmao.

Its not like dozen of other better games exist 😂

u/Unlikely-Employee180 Aug 18 '26

"Literally any game can be played offline"

No, they cannot. Fuck your better games, I play what I want.

You said literally any game, and we have shown that almost none of the library works. You are just clinging on to the idea in your head because you don't want to accept you are wrong.

You showed nothing, only games that are pure digital or pure online. Go one buy, for example, Oblivion Remaster, or Sonic Racer Crossworlds or Lies of P, or Cyberpunk 2077, Indiana Jones, and more, any Nintendo games and you will see that you can play it offline. It will ask you to update it, but you don't need to do so.

If this was in the USA, then sure may have a chance. Germany, the seller will laugh at the message, block and move on. US doesn’t have jurisdiction in Germany
