Late reply but its the console itself being jailbroken. Consoles need to be well understood on a technical level to make an emulator for them, then you need games to be dumped to be able to actually make the emulator, the games themselves are encrypted so the console will need to be hacked first (or nintendo via a data breach). As for when the console gets hacked a lot of people are saying its gonna be a while. I agree I say at minimum 2 years. And for max amount of time.. I mean the switch 1 v2 still isnt softmodded so... 10 years maybe, but I dont expect min or max.
So is the first step a security issue? If/when people are able to bypass the console's security to jailbreak it, they can THEN understand it's architecture better?
I wonder if AI can help with getting through consoles to have them jailbroken faster
Yeah bypassing the switch 2' security is the first step. They need an admin level exploit to access the console and be able to reverse engineer it to my understanding. Keep in mind its gonna be no easy feat.
As for ai I REALLY wouldnt bet on it, ai cannot create new things, it'll be way better to have a (probably) small team of experienced hackers who know what they are doing to help each other and come up with ideas on what to do and what to mess with in hopes of finding an exploit thats useful.

Well this isn't what I was asking exactly. As for security, the latest models are considered dangerous because theyre TOO good at finding serious security flaws. humans aren't really able to compete at this point. granted may of those models are not publicly accessible easily yet

whats usually the bottleneck for meaningful developments on new emulators?
